Transferring Tires to a Narrower Wheel?

I currently have 19x9.5 and 19x10.5 with 245/35/19 and 265/35/19 tires, respectively. They are Michelin PSS with about 75% tread remaining so I'd like to have a shop take them off of the current set up and mount them on a set that is 19x9 and 19x10 - a half inch narrower than the wheels they were on. Will this be a problem for tire fitment? 265 seems a little narrow for a 10.5 wide wheel, so I don't know to what extent it was stretched to fit it, if it all, and if the stretching caused any permanent elongation of the material.

Thanks!

As far as sizing goes you'll only see benefit with the narrower wheels. A 10 inch wheel is recommended to be paired with a 265 michelin by BMW. 245 should be a good size for a 9 inch wheel. The wheels you have now are a bit wide for that set up. As far as tire damage I couldn't imagine you'd have any issues but have your installer take a look at the tire for any potential issues. If you've had them on for a long time, maybe get new tires but sounds like they're relatively new based on tread depth.

I would not worry. Your change is very minor. But use a good shop. Mounting and dismounting bug low profile tires on expensive rims without doing damage requires good equipment and care with the emphasis on care.
