Found Bay Area Waitlist at MSRP
Hello everyone, just placed a deposit with East Bay BMW (Pleasanton) for a sedan (#5) at guaranteed MSRP. Their list for coupe is about 15 (including convertibles).
The deposit is fully refundable and is $5K. Feel free to contact John Wolff - john.wolff@hendrickauto.com to get on the list. Can't Wait! E90toE90M3 |

The salesman said that they should get quite a few given that it is one of the highest volume dealerships in the bay area.
Anyone else already on the list around San Francisco? |

I put my deposit down at that place in late January (was $5k then as well). I'm 6th or 7th on the whole list (going after a coupe if it makes any difference). I called basically every BMW dealership in the south bay and East Bay BMW was the only 1 that was taking deposits @ MSRP at the time (I had a number of dealerships tell me they were planning $10k markups; 1 even told me they'd mark it up over $20k).

That's insane. Those dealers won't be selling any M3 for a while.

MSRP is what enthusiast would pay
Quote:
Most "true" enthusiasts are savvy consumers (done the homework and the research), they won't shell out 1 penny more than MSRP on the cars they want. Those who preferred to pay more than MSRP (to get ahead of anyone else) reserve their bragging rights. For all M3 enthusiasts, let's not fall into the hand of dealers. |

The BMW dealerships can ask $20,000 over MSRP and still sell the cars... They assume that most people are going to haggle with them on the price (thats what most people do when buying a new car). Do any of you remember when the PlayStation 3 was released, the system cost $600 but on ebay they were going for over $3,000!!! its all supply and demand. And its going to be the same way for the new M3.
