Aftermarket choice for ZCP shocks and struts
Im curious for those of you with the ZCP suspension with EDC, if there are any aftermarket choices for the oem struts and shocks, as it looks like you'll end spending about 2.5k on the oem pieces when it comes time to replace them.

When you say aftermarket, are you talking about an OEM-equivalent part, or a more performance-oriented one? If you like the electronic adjustability that EDC provides, there are aftermarket options for that, but they're even more than the $2500 you mentioned.

Actually I should have searched a bit more, but found my answer in that Bilstein has an aftermarket B6 setup for the EDC struts/shocks thats a bit cheaper than oem..

Sounds like he just wants replacement shocks/struts because EDC OE shocks are so expensive. I am assuming he is attempting to retain his ZCP springs.

yes derbo is right, i am just planning ahead when it comes time to replace shocks and struts as to what my choices are in terms of maintaining my ZCP/EDC control but not be stuck with oem parts at such insane prices.

I found the fronts for $615 ea and the rears for around $330. In other words you can get the OEMs front and rear for under $2k. Here are the fronts.. https://www.bmwpartsnow.com/oem-part...xoCUf8QAvD_BwE Dave

thanks for the info all.....I have 71k and just from past experience know usually struts and shocks tend to start wearing out between 60-100k. I just wanted to plan ahead but I also know BMWs are notorious for premature control arm bushing wear and may get one of the trw kits with the various front and rear arms.

My EDC shocks were pretty worn by the time I hit 100k km (~60k miles). Ended up swapping to v3 and deleted the EDC. No regrets as the car felt night and day over the aged stock shocks.

Even new OEM shocks should be night and day right? How do you know how much better they are than a fresh set of OEM?

To be honest the OEM ZCP shocks are quite good and can handle a somewhat stiffer spring and a tad lowering. I would just go with a TC Klein or Ground Control coil over kits that use OEM struts/shocks.
https://groundcontrolstore.com/colle...m3-08-11-w-edc This is a good kit..it allows OEM ride height or you can drop it 1.75". I wouldn't go beyond 1" though with the OEM struts/shocks. Dave
