▀▄ eas | ESS VT1-550 Dyno Results

With all the intercooled VT2-625s we've been installing, we haven't heard much from ESS's entry-level VT1-550 (previously VT1-535) supercharger kit.

Here's a recent dyno of a 09 DCT with an ESS VT1-550 (non-intercooled) just installed and immediately strapped to the dyno.

SAE

STD

Conditions

Vehicle
2009 BMW M3 DCT

Modifications
ESS VT1-550 Supercharger
Macht Schnell Bypass Track Pipes
EAS OEM Exhaust Mod

Quite the bang for the buck for those looking to go boosted. With some miles allowing the DME to fully adapt, we should see even better numbers and a smoother curve.

Enjoy!

Any VT1 kit can be upgraded to VT2 at a later date if desired.

What's the cost difference if you were to start out with VT1 and upgrading to a VT2 later?

The difference in cost from the VT1 retail cost to your choice of VT2 retail cost. I'm sure Roman will chime in aswell. love my 550 kit but power is addicting and will be upgrading to VT2 625.

I agree, there's no return on labor.

If VT2 (intercooled) is in the very near future, I would recommend waiting until funds allow for it. Otherwise, there are many happy VT1-535/550 (non-intercooled) users out there.

Agreed, I think that mod contributed to create extra HP.

I'm having my original VT-1 535 upgraded with the Newer Software in 2 weeks through iND. Will be interesting to see the difference.

Those are some big numbers for a non-intercooled kit!

I know you've posted some already, but it would be great to see more data on how much is contributed by the primary cat delete! Such a lovely modification for the non-wallet breaking nature, haha.

It still perplexes me how these VT1-535/550 kits with primary cat deletes are so close in dyno figures to VT2-600 and VT2-625 with primary cat deletes. Definitely makes the VT1-550 look like a great "bang for your buck!!"

You're already part-way there with the ESS tune. The same E-Flash cable can be utilized with the supercharger system.
