Need engine rebuild advice
Hey guys what's up so basically my s65 took a shit on me after owning it for 2 weeks :diagnosis is apparently cylinder #7 has no compression which had been caused by valve spring failure due to cold starts which has no oil in lifter causing it to stick and fail and then breaking caused from using Bmw oil 10w60 because of thickness will be switching over to redline 5w50 once I decide on what to do. So my question comes to you guys I have a budget of 13-15k with labor to get this thing back on the road my options so far I was told were swap in a used motor or do the heads I'm wondering if I can get my whole engine completely rebuilt or should I do a 4.2 stroker and spend a little bit more but will I need to upgrade other things if I do go the stroker route ? kinda at a loss want someone to shoot me in the best direction just want my m3 to be reliable as possible any insight is deeply appreciated !

A rebuild will probably cost you $10-15k if the core is good. There’s a shop that advertises rebuilds for $7500 or something on eBay but you have to ship it there and back, plus remove and reinstall costs. I highly doubt you will have enough room to do a stroker.

There is at least one dismantler that lists on eBay that is based in NJ. If you were to rebuild the motor, you should review the 'stroker build' thread in the engine forum. I would contact SYT_Shadow about his build. I'm in the Midwest, but there appear to be some talented shops in your area or not too far.
It sucks to hear about a motor going down. Good luck in getting your car up and running. |
