ZF Limited slip diff percentage
Hi all,
Last year I have fitted a new 1,5 way 25% ZF clutch type diff. Much better then the slow oem visco diff... Fast responding and more grip when accelerating, But now I’m thinking I need even more and even more lock, so I’m thinking to do a upgrade to 1,5way 50%, it is an easy change, and relative low costs. Only “downside” I noticed, there is a little more push in high speed corners when you play with the throttle.. So my question is, will the push be more with a 1,5 way 50% with the same pre load as the 25% unit? What do you recommend? Is 25% enough for street driving and a bit of drifting and 4 track-days a year. I like a fast responding diff, but hate the understeer... |

Downside of clutch diffs is the more they lock the more push you get. For competition you can always "steer with the throttle", but for street driving not so much. For street driving it's Open < viscous < helical < e-Diff. The 1.5 way 50% may work OK on the street if you use less pre-load, but bets are off in wet conditions. This is general info for diffs, but if someone has specific experience with clutch diffs in the E9X chassis I'll defer.
