In a perfect world. The G9x series M3/4
Sometimes I lay down to go to sleep and dream about what could be, but never will.
Imagine, just for a second, that BMW took the S65 that we all love, bumped it to 4.4L, paired it to one or two small electric motors, dropped it in a modern chassis, gave it hydraulic steering and on demand AWD.... The sound... The acceleration... The dream... But alas my NA loving friends, it's just a dream. |

0 interest in the upcoming G series M, I know it because none of the new M cars seem to excite me so far...the M5, X5M, M8
i imagine keeping my S65 + 6MT well and healthy, and blast it through the roads in the yrs to come when surrounded by electric motor, transmission-less sports cars. By that time a minivan will be equally torquey and fast as an electric sports car, but damn none of them will carry any soul. I was doing carwash today and listening to Chris Harris & Matt Farah podcast, interesting how they drove the Taycan and new cars but Chris fails to even recall what kind of hypercar he drove recently, and they keep talking about their recent interest in getting the old M cars and 80s~90s porsche and ferrari with manual where you can actually control & feel the car without any aids (traction control), because even these turbo "sports" cars nowadays is quote "Undrivable" without any aids (Traction control, launch bs etc...)

Just like today we see some old guys driving old cars, in 20 years, we will see some old guys driving some old cars. Imagine yourself based on what you see. I have been around long enough to know that “I’ll drive it forever” is unrealistic.

I’m not sure how long this love affair will last with this car. It’s such a joy right now. Will I keep it forever, probably not but I’ll remember how fun this platform is forever.
Who knows what’s next for me but that isn’t important now. I’ll bet the new M will be badass. The current ones are great too. I just appreciate being in the golden age of performance. 400 plus HP is standard now. |

We have a 73 Bavaria and a 74 2002. They have so much soul that I have little interest in driving them. They are fun for the looks you get but a chore to drive. An hour here and there is OK but it’s too much work to maintain an old car so it is ready to use for an hour here and there.

It seems like you are joining an awesome thing, the S65B44, and joining it with two smouldering turds: AWD and electrification. That dream M3 would weigh 3900lb-4000lb and, other than meaningless 0-60 times, would be useless at the track My dream M3 would use i8 carbon tech with a S65B46 engine, choices of DCT and manual |

Do you guys see in 10~15 years a company like Singer will retro-mod these cars with top quality parts? CF body, custom interior, rebuilt engine..etc. That would be pretty cool.

Ferrari is doing this with the new SF90 - this provides torque vectoring at all 4 wheels. That thing will be a monster on track. |

Maybe. That's my rich guy fantasy right now. Have the time and money to take old BMW M cars and do basically a Singer version of them.
