Anyone know anything about this M3?
Saw it online at Carmax. Somewhat interested in purchasing it and thought someone here may know of it, or traded/sold it to them.

How many miles does this automatic have?
jk on the auto $44k on a '09... better have low miles...!?? Unless it has less than 30k miles, I say thats a bit high, but others can chime in on that. Keep in mind you'll have last that a year and a half of Factory Warranty.. Good Luck

I think that low 40s are reasonable for a CPO with @ 40k miles. Not for one about to be or out of warranty. They do make you pay for the CPO though (may not have orig warranty at all depending on in service date) |

I do believe its out of warranty, I think the in-service date is February 09. Could I still purchase a regular BMW extended warranty, or does the original warranty have to be in-tact?

Lurker, mostly.

If I remember correctly when my warranty was about to expire and I was doing the research on extending it, there couldn't be a lapse in coverage. The only option was to extend it prior to hitting the 4-year mark from the in-service date.

yeah I know I was just stating the price value of a 4xk car only being worth it if CPO.
must be bought prior to orig warranty expiration; take vin and call a dealer to find out service history |

Thanks. I thought I'd be OOL when it came to BMW warranty. Looks like a pretty nice car too, but I'll probably end up passing, not sure I want to use CarMax warranty on a car like that.

Carmax usually prices their cars pretty fairly. You won't get a great deal, nor will you typically pay way too much And their cars are (usually) free of problems.

I do think its a fair price, and I know it's in good shape now. But I'm just worried about something going wrong down the road. I don't know if I want to own an M3 that's not under warranty.

there's also 3rd party warranties, and as I recall, there was one perticular one where members have used and have gotten no hassle warranty claims through. pricewise, this car is way overpriced, by about $4k. At least it's an 09 though, so at least you get LCI and CIC. If this car checks out mechanically, and is offered at $40k CASH, i would lift it. have you checked this thread btw? b/c there's a 2012 being considered for $49k with warranty through 2014, with only 10k miles. I would use this thread to compare relative deals. http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...366319&page=62 |

I agree it may be a little over priced.

thanks for clarification, always thought 09 had LCI...not that any of that is a selling point.

Out of warranty
I was a service advisor for a BMW dealer and we dealt with Car Max extended warranty all the time. All I can say is their warranty is good and even cover rental cost if you are out of a vehicle for more than a day. Or you can purchase an extended BMW warranty even if it is out of warranty by time, but not by miles. Good luck

I bought at carmax and got the max care warranty. It paid for itself x2 already. 45 days after buying the throttle actuators went bad. They paid $4k for that, also got repairs to the fuel pump sensor for a couple hundred. Only thing that sucks is you cant negotiate the price at all on the car.
