Not that I know of. Maxcare is not a Carmax owned insurance company. They are 3rd party companies.

Who does the warranty work? Is there a list for your region or the dealer ?

Depending on what deductible you pick.
I have the $50 deductible at Carmax or $100 deductible at any other dealer.

You can take it to Carmax (which at some places, has a looooonnnngggg appointment date) or at a indy/dealer that takes Maxcare.

I think if you go to Carmax and ask them who their underwriter is, they'll let you know.
My underwriter is Motor Warranty Services of NA/thewarrantygroup.com

Thanks. My car is out of warranty in December and I am in need of options.

they use three different ones depending on the make/model. TWG (the warranty group) is most common for BMW under Maxcare

I always wonder if something really big happens.

If I take it to CarMax first will it get a better change of being covered or if I take it to BMW will it matter.

If it's somewhat simple and they can order the part/replace it, the Carmax facility will take care of it. If they can't, they'll contact the closest BMW dealer or maybe an indy to handle it.

I personally don't know if I can trust Carmax to service my vehicle.
Nothing against them and also I don't know any techs there (unlike my rapport with my local dealer), however, since they're a general dealer, they service many makes/models and it's easy to be a jack of all trades and a master of none.

I've also never trusted their multi point inspection being done right so how could I trust them to do my service work?

I've had them replace a window switch and that's about it. Everything else I've done, I've taken it to my dealer. I'd rather pay the extra $50 for my deductible and get an appointment within a day or two. I've had Carmax tell me that the next available service was 2 weeks away and I won't go in to how many times I had to call to make that appointment!

Yep, cool thing though, if you take it to CarMax first and they have to take it to BMW, you still get the $50 less price.

I purchased an m3 at carmax with the warranty and it's paid for itself. Don't forget , they pay for rental car too while repair is being done.
