Fuel pump question ( p/n 16112283497)
Hi
Anyone replace their fuel pump assembly before ? I just got one from. fCPeuro and the lower part of assembly hangs loose, and just slides off when I try to pickup the pump with the top part ( meaning top and bottom pieces aren't affixed to each other ) Is that normal or is this thing missing a piece ? |

Nothing hangs loose once in the tank. The two rods beside the lower cannister with the springs in them put tension on the plastic can once it's in the tank. The fuel level sensor does flop around and "hang loose" but that's what it's supposed to do. Once you open the fuel tank (biggest pain of the whole job) and remove the old pump it will make sense to you.
If you are doing the job yourself, make sure you drive your car down to just fumes, i.e. fuel gauge miles left meter reads zero (don't take any big risks as you will run out of gas) but get it as low as you can. Make sure the mark the Mason jar lid thing so you know how tight to put it back when you reassemble. It's not a bad job, take your time and it will all work out. |
