Seeing twins, OK, but triplets??
I always assumed that with the E9x M3's higher price point, they would certainly be scarcer than E46 M3s were during their heyday. So I'm sitting at a left turn light, almost home...then, I spot another Alpine White E90 M3 in cross traffic from the right. OK, that's cool. Then, yet another Alpine White E90 M3 crosses from the left! Wow! I didn't expect that I'd see myself TWO times at one stoplight...but I guess it's still SoCal where M3s ain't so special.
Still in the honeymoon phase, lovin' the new car!

Nah, you're just seeing your own reflection shifted in time -- one from the past, one from the future. It's those space-time warp thingies that happen in SoCal from time to time. The earthquake last week didn't help either.
Cheers.

Porsche 997's are a dime a dozen in my area; so common my son didn't want me to get one. He thought they were boring. Every doctor, dentist, and heir has one. There's 8 or more in my neighborhood. The video game developer kids all drive the Italian supercars. I've only seen one new model M3 in town. It was Interlagos Blue with nice aftermarket wheels. The local dealer doesn't even keep them in inventory; had to go to Chapel Hill to test drive one.
I chose the M3 because it met all my criteria; hardtop cabrio, true four seater, sports car, fast, handles well. What I got as a bonus is a car that's very rare in my area. Planning on making it more rare with aftermarket wheels and I may do an ESS kit after I've driven it a while. Last edited by m3keash; 03-16-2011 at 02:05 AM.. |

Sounds to me like the US market for M3's is much greater than that here in Germany. I can go for MONTHS (off post) and not see an M3......... an assbag load full of Badged 3series, but no M3's. I wonder why?? It is not as if it is not a desireable car. When we did our 5 M3 car convoy this weekend people were breaking their necks to see, take pics and video tape.

Because it's cheaper here in US. A new M3 is around $72,000, which is what 51,548 Euros? How much is a typical new M3 in Germany?

Not that many here in Georgia either. I've only seen one, other than mine, driving around town. I see a lot e46 M3s around though.

Yeah I rarely see M3s in Tampa. I hear Miami is a M3 convention, but I've only seen a couple, and they were at my shop, one of them being the shop's owner. Honestly, I see more Ferraris or Aston Martins here than M3s. There's two DBS's in my building alone....

funny, I see more e93's than e90/92's..and I'm not too far from persian54...hmmm
but the lease numbers late last year were far more competitive for the e93 than the e90/e92....

Overall, E9xs are a rare sight. You can call it a mass produced car but that's relative. Compared to an Accord? No. To Ferraris? Yes. But then again, I'm sure there's some SoCal Veyron owner out there saying "Wasn't really interested in a mass produced Ferrari. See them everywhere. Just yesterday I saw 2 in a McDonalds drive thru line!"
That's just the way SoCal is. In Atlanta, I've seen more Ferraris and Lambos than I have E9x M3s. |

Have seen no more than 11 E9X m3s in the area over the last three years. Funny thing is I remember all of them!
White E90 (2008) White E90 2010+ with ZCP White Coupe with BBS (Not Jonny Lin though) White Coupe with tints Silverstone Coupe Jerez Black coupe Melbourne Red Coupe space Gray coupe with stock 18s Black E93 space Gray E93 White E93 add the handful of WA M3 post members to this list, if that's not one of their cars I've already mentioned, and we probably have less than 50 in the entire state.
