So i was at a store buying a new phone, the guy online behind me happend to notice my car and asked m e how i like it.

he then told me he a service manager for a bmw dealership in upstate new york.

we talked about teh car a little and he asked me if i got the fist service performance upgrade. i told him thats a rumor and the car unlocks it self.

He said to me:

" the car unlocking itself is a rumor on its own, he said the m3 gets the same power tuning as the m5s and m6s, however many dealers do not wish to do it, because its is tedious and they dont get paid by bmw for it"

He said the m3 is restricted and can 100 percent be unlocked to perform better, as m5s and m6s are.

Ive been hearing yes and no rants and raves about this mod and now im comlpletely lost. I asked him if he can do it for me, he said no problem but he is going away for two weeks and no shop floorman would be willing to do so without his ok.

is this just more bs , that will probably make me lose a day of work and a 80 mile drive!

Honestly, I think it sounds like BS. But how can we know for sure? I mean does any of us have any high level connection @ BMW??? This is very annoying...

OT: Is it true that on M6 you can adjust MAX HP from the cockpit, using your iDrive? Or is this bunch of BS as well? Sorry, never driven an M6, even though my brothers friend has one. I am thinking about switching with him for couple of days :-)

Yes the M6 can be changed from 400bhp to 500bhp with the POWER button. At least this is what I have always known to be true.

Watch Top Gear's review of the M6 on the Isle of Mann. This should answer your question quite thoroughly.

I heard that theirs a secret update done by the dealer that releases wings from under my car to make it fly and adds an extra 200HP!!!
