i get the "why not" angle, but the V8 is the defining characteristic of the E9x. It's like the LS-swapped Tesla... cool that you can do it, but ... why?

Instead of doing that, I’d stuff an S65 into an F80 and covert it to hydraulic steering. That would be amazeballs…

Don’t get it twisted, I also love the s65 and would never even think about doing a crazy swap like that. But if you’re willing to break the mold by going above & beyond to be different, then I say go for it.

An f80 with hydraulic steering period would be amazeballs. Though the steering with the right camber plates + monoballs actually doesn't feel that bad. Still not the raw feedback of an e9x but is tolerable

It would likely bolt in using a non-M front subframe but getting it to run would be a whole different thing. The G8x and E9x are very different platforms electrically.
I think you'd most likely have to swap everything from a G8x and try to adapt things like the lights, doors, windows, mirrors etc to work. You would essentially have a G8x in a E9x shell, which makes no sense at all. |
