Is $4000 the going rate for rod bearings?

Was quoted by G2 in Seattle. Including motor mounts, fluids, etc.
is this the current market rate for a rod bearing job?

A quick search mate, will let you know the rate is more like $2-2.5k mounts included.

That's in California. Up here in WA state, last I saw someone paid about $3600 when it was all said and done. Not enough competition for shops to get that cheap here.

Mine was $3300 which was a fair price for the area. 4k seems excessive.

You could ship the car to MRF engineering for his excellent service for cheaper than $4k.

Wow, thats significantly more that even here in Sweden. Nice to see things aren't always twice the price vs the US...

$1000 in parts so $3000 in labor for a job that should take a pro 8 Hours or less. That is about $375 per hour. I am in the wrong line of work.

That's what I was going to say! Labor should be 1000-1500, plus parts that cost whatever they cost

Maybe try IS Garage in Renton, WA. They might have better prices. http://www.isgaragellc.com/services-2/

Over here in the mid-Atlantic, I was quoted $2600 for BE bearings and bolts w/ new engine mounts (1200 labor + 1400 parts).

$4000 is a rip-off. I paid $2400 for bearings, bolts, install, engine mounts, oil pan gasket, alignment.

Prices are ridiculous around here. I was quoted $230-$400 for a single strut install from a few local shops around here. That's like an hour of labor even with hand tools. I paid $400 for complete coilover install+adjustments from a reputable shop when I lived in the Bay Area.

If you're in seattle, you can easily make a 4 hour drive up to Vancouver. I paid $1300cdn for labour and supplied my own parts. $1300cdn is like what, $500usd?

IS Motorsports (Formerly IS Garage) in Renton charges around ~1700 in labor from a recent post. BE bearings and bolts are around $850, then add a couple hundred for fluids and gasket.

I paid well under 3k with mounts at RRT racing in va which is known as one of the better m3 shops in the area. Your price is way off in my opinion. Prices here in the dc aren't exactly cheap either.
