Ditto

I'm surprised at the low numbers on Melbourne Red though

Well, they do and they don't. In some cases standard Individual colors are issued with the SONDERLACKIERUNG (490) code and sometimes they use the actual paint code (

Thanks SickFinga... much appreciated !

45 Dakar Yellows are not part of the "Edition" edition. Out of those 45 cars, 2 Dakar Yellows are part of the Australian Pure Edition II. It doesn't appear that Dakar Yellow was part of the edition, since only 2 out of 51 Pure Edition II are Dakar Yellow

Now for the US/Canadian cars the breakdown is as follows:

pre LCI - 6 cars
LCI - 23 cars (1 of them is a Canadian car)

Keep in mind that that Fire Orange came standard on the Limerock Edition cars, the M3 GTS, and I believe one or more other special edition cars worldwide. For this reason, the Fire Orange numbers are disproportionately higher than other "special paints."

That is correct, 200 Lime Rock Editions, plus Canada got 23 Lime Rock Limited Editions

SickFinga, on the individual colors for e92, hasn't this forum featured a Technoviolet coupe? Didn't see it listed, wonder if its the unlisted color?

If it's the car I'm thinking of there was one painted that color aftermarket, not from the factory. Never heard of TV getting approved for the E9x (may not have been reformulated yet.)

It is interesting to see how the numbers have been increasing Frozen colors.
Trend of Germany, he moved to North America
It's amazing the variety you can have have all choosing a particular color thus obtaining very individual personality.
The funny thing is there are many fans of Carbon Black and nobody asked an M3 of that tone.
Low numbers of Azurite Black , where are the many fans of that?
It's a shame that withdrew Sparkling Graphite as color standard.
BMW evaluate the largest and tones continue in the new generation F80 M3.
Standard Paints 8 or 9 Top :Alpine White, Jet Black, Jerez Black? or Sapphire Black ? or Carbon Black? or a new , or Midnight Black , Absolute Black of brand Mini.
Individual or Special Paints Top : Frozen Black, White, Grey, Silver.

Question

These are great stats to have! Thanks!

What's the actual source for these stats?

I'm asking because my car is one of 3 E92s in NA, apparently, and someday that factoid may carry some weight with someone, if it's from a verifiable source.

UPDATED 8/11: I've added the E92 color data (thanks again to SickFinga) and combined with the E90 data for comparison. Also made a few other tweaks.

Interesting to see relative color preference between models, as well as the explosion of Individual colors for the E92 LCI - nearly 10% of E92 LCI cars for the US/Canada market were ordered with Individual colors.

SickFinga can chime in but I believe the detailed color data he provided is from BMW's WebETK or ASAP systems that dealers have access to.

If you are talking about this car ( http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=769238 ), it's a respray. Not only that, I don't think it's a correct Techno Violet formula. It's just way too "metallicky".

Here is a 335i Techno Violet for comparison.

Data is gathered by pulling build sheets for all the E92 M3s produced.

At least 540 out of all those E92 LCI Individuals were part of some sort Special Edition.

I'm surprised to see 22 Santorini Blue cars in the US. I thought I had a larger share than 4.5%

Special editions I recall for the US:

Frozen Gray - 30
Frozen Silver - 40
Frozen Black - 20
Lime Rock - 200
Frozen Limited Edition - 150 (US)

Total: 440

For the Frozen Limited Edition, the PR said they would build 150 but those three colors total 194 cars from the data. I know people probably ordered it outside of special editions but maybe they built more than planned? Still impressive number of non-"standard" paints, especially since the program hasn't been formally offered/promoted here to the extent it has been in other markets.

14 of those 22 cars are part of the Canadian Santorini Blue Limited Edition.

Most of those editions were available in Canada and are not counted when BMW NA issues press releases since BMW Canada is not part of the BMW NA.
