Not rare at all.

Not that it matters, but I am curious...

I get that the "special paint" cars must not have "normal" colors. I'm just wondering what else makes a color "normal?" There seem to be several that were built in lower quantities than LMB, say Melborune Red, for example. Is "normal" any color that was used at least as often as LMB?

I'm just asking so I know for future reference what a normal color is.

It's not entirely accurate. There was one CRT that made it to the US -- Texas, to be exact.

In this case, "normal" just means any of the standard or optional colors available on the car. A "non-normal" color in this case refers to an Individual color, which has to be special ordered for an extra $5,500.

It a European car that was privately imported through Show or Display program.

Indeed. Out of curiosity, do you know what's involved to participate in either program?

Check Wikipedia, it outlines which cars can be considered for importation and limitations for those cars.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Show_and_Display

Here is the most recent list of pre-approved and ineligible cars under the program.

The E46 M3 sold almost 2x the E92/3 M3 numbers in the USA alone, and that was without a Sedan. Considering the global economic meltdown, it is understandable but nevertheless disappointing.

I think that this will be the last of the "affordable" M3 as BMW will continue to push the M3/M4 to a price bracket where it simply does not belong, IMO. The closer the M3 gets to the 911 in price the less attractive it will become.

Thank you OP profusely for posting.
I get dorky about data too,

I had 1 of 1,364 manual E60 M5s in the world (since they were US/Canada only..). 1 of 155 space gray. It was my keychain inscription, then the car was stolen.

But then a buddy had 1 of 15 Sepang bronze manuals...
