passenger side mirror distortion
So I got my 09 BMW M3 a week ago!!!!!!!!!! And I noticed that the passenger side mirror glass is a little distorted, for objects nearby it would be fine, but for those objects further away it would seem as if there's two cars instead of one. Everything looks hazy and out of focus.
I took it for them to look at, they "claim" they replaced it and that nothing was wrong with the original and that i was confusing the distortion with the auto dim tinting feature of the mirror. But it's clearly not the case... anyone have any ideas what might be causing this? |

yeah I took it back and finally they said that it was a common problem with M3's and they replaced. I haven't had a problem with it since. Just make sure the service person who sees it doesnt just glance at it and admit that there's an issue. Otherwise they'll try to get out of doing it for you.

I have the same issue with the driver's side. I was thinking maybe because there is a heating element integrated into the mirror.
Was there a recall for it, or simply covered under warranty? |

Net-net, you're going to have to pay to get it replaced. If you are going to spend money, get the Euro glass, even if you have to source it via Schmiedman.

Wide angle glass on both sides, additionally a super wide section on the outside of both mirrors.
WAY better than the US glass.

https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...1168041951952/ The connection for the heating element didn’t match the one on my car. It’s an 09 so that might have been the issue. I’m in San Antonio & don’t need it so didn’t pursue it. Might be worth checking into first. |
