BMW Service records for my E93 M3

Guys,

Need your assistance if possible...

It's been a little over a month since I got my 2011 E93 M3. It came with 76k miles and as per Carfax it was maintained at the BMW dealer which is good. The report doesn't really gives me much info on what was done to the car.

Would I be able to go to any BMW dealer and inquire about the service records? If not, how can I go about getting them? Does anyone here have the hook ups and able to provide this for me? I would really appreciate it.

Call the dealership on CarFax with your VIN. You won't get previous owner info but they'll more than likely be happy to share the details of the maintenance that was done.

That was my experience with the 75k mile M3 i bought a few weeks ago.

I just got off the phone with a BMW dealership because I was making an appt for the blower motor recall... after that, I asked him what he could tell me about previous service, and he basically said, if BMW paid for anything (aka under warranty or recall) they have everything in that was done to the car, but any maintenance or repairs outside of the norm, he said they don't have those records even if it was done at a dealership. I've been trying to track down if my E90 ever had RB's done, and while I didnt find that out, I did use a Carfax listed Indy shop that serviced it last year and call them up.. they told me what they had done to the car and I found out the throttle actuator gears were replaced with CF ones last year, which was great to know. I'd use the Carfax to find out who touched the car, and call them up.

One thing you can also do is, if you bought it from a reputable dealer/dealership, ask for the MPI (or whatever they call it). Usually most good dealers will give it a very thorough inspection. When I bought my E93, they had a 6 page list of things they checked with writeups as to part conditions, fluid age, etc. Not the same as full service records, but it's uncommon for a car with that kind of mileage to be picked up by a dealership and have absolutely nothing done before it's resold.

I agree w/ wfdeacon though, just give the dealership a call and ask if they have any records on what was done to it, I'm sure they'd be happy to play ball.
