TheEnrique E92 Build Thread - Epic levels of detail.
I have been on the forums for a pretty long time and have had crazy love for the E92 M3 since my 2011. After having a couple of F8X I missed the E9X platform. It took about a year to find but I picked her up in MA with 17,XXX on the odometer. 2012 Alpine White with extended Fox Red DCT. She spent about two months in the garage in which time I accumulated a cache of parts. Im big on the discontinued accessories and will post part numbers for anyone who is interested. If you have any questions about anything on my build you're welcome to PM me. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do.
I want to thank the guys over at ECS Tuning for all the help with all the hard to find parts and IND Distribution for coming through with the good stuff. Special thanks to Billy at Need Powder Coating in Newark for the countless sets of wheels that he refinished for me. December 2018 when I picked her up. Since I had her in the garage for a few months I went ahead and performed a paint correction and sealed it with Nanolex Si3D Removed the original clear bra from when the car was purchased which was yellowing. I used steam as well as bug and tar remover for the residue. I removed all the badges, emblems, markers, and the trunk spoiler. New clear bra went on after the Si3D. IND Goodies. AW Painted side markers. Painted Keyhole Delete Painted trunk and hood emblems Red Steering wheel M button and start button Wheel hoarding. Freshly coated 359 ZCP with Michelin Pilot AS3+ Satin Black 359 GTS Wheels BBS LM 20" Suspension is stock with no EDC so I went with the most comfortable adjustable on the market, Ohlins Road and Track. Before the suspension settled. I had a custom steering wheel made to match the interior. Before and after. with the IND buttons and Autotecknic black aluminum shift paddles. I also wrapped the DCT selector in 3M Carbon DiNoc The car had the ACM exhaust mod with adjustable tips when I purchased it. I wanted to change it up so I purchased a few options including the Dinan as well as Miesterschaft GT-S (no valves and discontinued) coupled with the Active Autowerke Test Pipes and Performance Air Filter. I settled on the Miesterschaft with gloss black exhaust tips (Need Powder Coating) with AA test pipes, Dinan intake and black aFe Ram Air Scoops (ECS) Dinan Goodies, High flow intake and strut bars. Exterior Accessories. OEM Carbon Front Splitters (purchased new from a forum member)(#511121602712) OEM Carbon Mirror Caps (purchased new from a forum member)(#51162157813) OEM Carbon Trunk Spoiler (purchased new from a forum member)(#51622159805) Carbon Side Skirts (No clue on the brand, if you know then let me know) OEM Gloss Black Grill (ECS) (#51712155451) OEM Gloss Black Side Vents (ECS) GTS Front lip (beyond repair so I sticker bombed it) DETAILS DETAILS DETAILS Didn't think it was worth the money to buy new Euro visors. Tar and adhesive remover did the trick on these, the wrinkles come out once the visors dry off. I dont know what you guys will say about this but I wanted to change it up with the storage accessories. Rear Air vent replacement cubby retrofit (Cubby #51166960684) (small valet tray #51166960687) Roof liner handle replacement sunglasses holder retrofit (#51164862874) Center console cigarette lighter replacement retrofit (#51167132376) Rear center console cup holder retrofit (#51166963909) Front driver (#51459173463) and passenger (#51459173469) cup holders were slow so I replaced them with new OEM ones. Gas cap (#16117222391) was dusty, replaced it. Rear third brake light (#63257146059) was dry and folded around the edges from a poor tint install when the car was new. Replaced it. Front (#51317119711) and rear (#51317119713) windshield seals were dry. Replacing them was more about cleaning out the old dry rubber. Sliding the new seals was easy. M Door Sills are nice but I wanted the Competition Package door sills, Say no more. (#51477979359 & 51477979360) A typical issue is the iDrive controller metal trim warp. Replaced the ring (#65829353029), not the whole controller. Also swapped out the center console (#51167903960) due to some leather discoloration. Rear Sliding Trunk Tray (#51477131155) I sticker bombed it because the soft-touch coating condition was so poor. BMW Oil Pouch (#83292158848) Footwell LED Umbrella (#51472153353 ) Installed the E92 Coupe Roof Rack. (#82710432888) Still looking for the right roof box. New minor mod is the BMW LED Trunk light (#63312348803) Before and after. BMW Floating center caps (#36122455269) painted gloss black by IND to match the other emblems. The end all be all of exclusive accessories. BMW Fire Extinguisher (#52100441113) I took a regular steering wheel trim and attempted to match the shifter and brake handle. Opinions welcome on this one. Another member painted the roof rack bars black and I like the look more than the silver so I had mine powder coated at NPC. VS Roof bars and basket. Also switched to a GTS lip instead of the splitters. I had the brake boot and DCT shifter redone in alcantara. One of my favorite touches. BMW Performance Aluminum Sport Pedals (#35002213213) BMW M3 Floor Mats (#82112293533) BMW All Weather Mats with Carpeted Heel (#82112220870) BMW M Carpeted Trunk Mat (#82110444700) Last edited by TheEnrique; 07-15-2019 at 03:08 AM.. |

Great thread.
Does the rear vent and ash tray just come out without removing the whole unit? For the rear cup holder, you can install from the top too without taking it all out? Does the rear cup holder hold a can of coke or Gatorade? Where did you get the rear cupholders? Thanks! .

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

I feel like if you were going to do euro visors you should have gotten the older 09 model ones as they're fabric. At least on the Sedans they're fabric

Its not plugged in anymore so I dont think that the car would divert air back there but I am not sure yet. I only installed it a couple of days ago and havent really driven the car.

What was the process of getting the CF DCT knob to work? Is there an off-the-shelf solution now? Looks great.

True. Easier to take the sticker off on the vinyl ones. Just don't like how cheap they feel personally. Doesn't fit in with the car. Otherwise I love the work. I want to do the same thing basically. OEM+ parts
