Thoughts on Polyurethane Lips/Diffuser?
For those of you who have Polyurethane lips have you noticed if it has caused your bumper to sag/crack or any adverse effects? I bought one off ebay and it felt insanely heavy, I returned it and have been casually browsing for another one but all of them seem to be polyurethane.
Anyone with polyurethane lips care to share their experience? Thanks

i don't see lots of forum guys running plastic lips and i can understand your concerns about the weight. like Monterey mentioned, depending on the weight and design it could really drag some wind.
with proper installation it should be fine though. what lip design are you looking at? |

which lip did you try? i had the polyurethane challenge rep before and it was insanely light. i didn't have any problems with it except for the fact that it hung super low and i scraped pretty often.

I have a PU v1 replica, $100 on eBay. Had to drill screw holes to mount on either bumper end; perfect fit on one side, about 8/10 on other.
Looks fine from a distance and no issues with weight or additional scraping; also protecting bumper and preventing me from spending more money on cf upgrade pieces... |

I had the challenge poly lip and had no issues. It held up and never sagged despite My driveway being steep so I scrape all the time.
See sig below ... that's a challenge lip at the track :P

I would love PU lips. Hold up to scratching so much better, especially with how low almost all lips on the E9X sit anyways.
Personally, I don't love CF, so, I'm happy with PU and painting it. |

I have the gts rep and it holds-up very good. Minor fitment issues at first! But with a little sanding and paint, it came out perfectly. Once I skewed it into the bumper, everything was spot on. It's a little heavy, but not to were it will disrupt the bumper.
The only problem that i have is that my bumper got warped on the lower right side due to the CF lip I had on there at first. I was backing out of a driveway and the damn thing ripped off (CF is too stiff, so if it hooks onto something? It will pull and then rip off). The damage isn't night & day, it just sticks out by a little less than half a inch from the right air duct. You will have to get up in personal to notice it. I will pick a PU lip over a CF lip any day. |

hm.. thanks for the input guys, the lip i bought was a vorsteiner rep in PU and i didn't weigh it but honestly if I had to guess it was at least 20lbs or more! are most of your guys' PU lips that heavy? maybe i just got it from a bad vendor?
