Engine Valve cover Paint Touch Up
The paint on my engine valve cover is starting to crack and chip around the oil filler cap.
Has anybody found a high temp touch up paint that is similar to the oem color? I'd prefer not to remove the entire valve cover and paint them as they aren't that bad yet. Thanks |

I just had mine glass bead blasted. Do not sand them, as magnesium is porous and you can end up with sand in your engine bay. Get your valve covers cleaned or given an acid bath after blasting. Send them to a powder coater and have them bake them for 2 hours before coating. I got mine powder coated with gloss black epoxy. I just painted the tops with wrinkle blue VHT high temperature paint.
Also, if it's chipping around your oil cap, I guarantee it's chipping underneath the covers. You should probably do your valve cover gaskets and have them completely refinished. |
