Replaced Starter this weekend...now 2 Error Codes 27B2 and 2AF9

Hi M3post.

A friend and I replaced the starter in my 2010 E90 M3 this weekend. Many thanks to the DIY thread and a couple of youtube videos.

It started up immediately after completing the job yesterday. Started it twice for good measure and let it run and no codes so turned it off and started cleaning up the garage.

Last night I took it on its first trip and noticed a high pitched noise during the cold start that I haven't noticed in the 4 years I've owned it but it settled down quickly and I didn't think anything of it as no issues driving it over the next 30 minutes.

This morning on way into work got the same noise and then a Service Engine Soon light. I quickly opened the hood and could hear the noise from what I thought was the secondary air pump.

OBD scanner revealed 2 codes, 27B2 and 2AF9. First one is related to SAP and second the coolant temp sensor.

I am wondering if maybe a hose to the SAP didn't get connected fully and maybe same with the electrical connection to the temp sensor. Off with the plenum again after work it seems.

Has anyone dealt with these 2 issues?

For 27B2, most likely you didn't fully seat the Secondary Air Pump plastic hose (inverted Y-shaped plastic hose), that part is a major PIA to reseat properly with two clicks (one click on each side of the hose for each connection point) especially with the limited space for your hands behind the engine.

And for 2AF9 it is almost certainly poorly seated or was simply forgotten when reconnecting everything. Here is a thread with a similar outcome.

So turns out the vent hose connected to the Secondary Air Pump wasn't seated correctly and had actually disconnected fully. The temp sensor connection we unplugged and plugged back in. Started up with no faults and have driven it twice and it's all good.
