I realize the inherent risks involved - I had padding in all of the "right" places in my last car, but realistically that wouldn't have done much if hit and my hard hit a bar. Half cage only has the bars behind the driver so presumably a touch safer when on the street - would have to have something go very very wrong for your head to go that far back :

Just keep in mind that the oem seat has an airbag. You are losing that protection when going to a race seat.
For that reason I kind of like the idea of a e46 M3 with half cage and race seat and harness. The air bag is in the door. But now that I think about it you're still compromised on the street. Harness with no hans no helmet. |
