Whats your definition of superior?

Apple has a fast processor yes, thats about it.

But I prefer having things like headphone jacks, expandable storage, having the option to log in with a finger print in addition to my face, iris, or even an old fashioned code.

I also prefer being able to make my user experience whatever I want it to be instead of a mandatory grid of icons.

Quite simply I prefer choice. Exactly what you dont get with Apple.

I wear wired headphones every day for 2.5hrs, I have never had an issue with storage (thanks iCloud), and you are not required to use your face or fingerprint - code is always an option.

Yep, haven't had a headphone jack for years but still use 3.5mm headphones daily.

I'm currently using 27g out of 256, guess I could have saved money. Between Spotify and Amazon photo backup, I really don't keep more than a few podcasts on my phone. I have never really felt the need for expandable storage.

Honestly there are way way way too many things to list when it comes to features, options, choice with the choke-hold Apple has on you.

The problem is most Apple users dont do (or want to do) the research to know/understand this.

That is fine because Apple is serving that consumer base just fine.
The consumers want simple and thats what the get, nothing wrong with that.

But its also why the phrase "iSheep" exists. Their customers follow Apples lead and the rest of the pack. Their customers rely on Apple to tell them what they get and what they can do.

And most Apple users are brainwashed into thinking that what Apple tells them is best and everything else (like Android) is junk.

I used android before getting an iPhone and after i bought an iPhone. Android sucks, period. Unreliable, ugly and cheap looking UI, plastic and ugly giant phones. I modded the hell out of it, with ROM, overclocking, etc. Went to iPhone 4S. Love that phone. Easy to use, reliable, design and OS kick ass. No complaints at all. Bought 5S, awesome phone until i had screen separation issues. Got another one with crazy battery drain and Apple would not let me trade for another. So i bought an Android to use. Big mistake. Although the phone was very nice design, Sony Z3 Compact. It was unreliable, ugly UI and shitty Android performance. Made me go back to my iPhone. Eventually the volume key stopped working and got my 2nd 5S. This phone kicked so much ass, I'm still using it today. Just bought a SE and an 8 to replace the 5S.

And Android accessibility features suck ass. iPhone has amazing features & options i use daily.

I don't think Android phones is junk.. but I also don't think the majority of people care to customize their phones. Most people just care about it running reliably and able to use it for a long time.

With iOS 12, they just updated every iPhone on the market for the past 6 years. Not only does the update modernize the OS and security of all these iPhones but it increases the performance of these old phones. That's why there's people running around with 6 year old iphones with the latest iOS version - they're still viable and fast enough by today's standards.

Has Google done that? Android is so fragmented, it requires each manufacturer to release an update individually for each phone model. Long term device support is almost non existent. They have no incentive to go and rewrite their OS so old phones can run faster. They'd rather you go and buy a new phone.

You could always buy a Pixel phone which quite literally is the "iPhone" of Android.

Thats the beauty of Android, choice. I can choose to get that if I want or I can buy one of the other 300+ options out there.

But yeah I completely understand the "just works" mentality and Apple serves that customer base very well.

I have 2 of 3 sons with iPhones and my work phone is an iPhone so I am very familiar with their quality, reliability, usability, and performance.

Touting that Apple updates old iPhones, while correct, is not really the benefit you are trying to make it out to be. After 2-3 years a smartphones usability and practicality really deteriorate rapidly.

1. Lithium Ion batteries have a finite lifespan and based on average usage in modern smartphones its around 2 years (if not less). After this time they have degraded to a point where they do not hold enough charge to perform adequately which is why Apple got caught intentionally degrading performance on older phones with each new iOS release. My sons iPhone 6 and my work iPhone 5s while running current versions of iOS have battery life so bad that they are plugged in and cannot go more than 4 hours without requiring charges.
This is not myth and not even related to Apple. This is science and facts about lithium ion batteries.
2. Older phones run into memory limitations on new apps and the older the phone gets the more new apps you cannot use due to not enough memory.

The common misconception about current Android phones and software being laggy and junk was true 3+ years ago but today the situation is entirely different.
There are many Android phones out there with as good or better build quality than an Apple phone.
Modern Android OS is just as smooth, reliable, and easy to use as iOS. In some ways its even easier to use if you take the time to learn about the OS.

Here is a pretty good video covering why it is hard to deal with iOS or Apple.

Linus couldn't be more of a hater. He's a tech nerd preferring Android and even promoted OnePlus in an ad on his channel.

Basically, his opinion is meaningless because he's biased and paid by OnePlus.

Better security, better support, faster processor, regular software updates, better resale value, longer lasting, better build quality, better screen (than Note, as tested by DisplayMate...yes, I know Samsung/LG make the screens, but shows Apple actually has high tolerances and cares about display calibration), better facial recognition hardware, better camera, etc.

Average users don't care about expandable storage. In fact, I don't want it. Just another thing to manage, lose, and track. iCloud > Expandable Storage

Iris scanner sucks compared to FaceID because it's harder to use. Samsung Face unlock is worthless trash, not even secure and not even accepted for mobile payments. It's simply there for convenience.

iPhones can unlock with a password as well.

A lot of manufacturers are moving away from headphone jacks. Wireless is superior. Have you tried AirPods? One of the best Apple products out there.

You want to use headphones? Use the adapter...Apple is executing a strategy that is moving away from wires. You can resist it, but it's coming...just like the death of floppy, VHS, and USB.

Again, MOST people just want their phone to do things for them. This big thing about "customizing the OS for a superior user experience" is limited to tech nerds and a small group of kids. You do it for a few weeks and then you get bored of moving things around on your phone just for the hell of it.

Apple sold 220M iPhones in the last 12 months. You think if OS customization were important to their users they wouldn't allow it? Apple understands their customers VERY well and sells more iPhones than ANY single device out there (Samsung ships more total phones, but most of them are under $200 junk and spread across many different models). Apple is the leading smartphone for a reason. People like using iPhone.

Agreed with the above except the wireless headphones being superior. At least from a sound quality perspective, cords are wildly better than BT. But if we're just talking AirPod quality and pricing, sure, they're fine. But real headphones will always have cables.

Not a huge issue as I still use an external DAC, but let's not go telling people BT Audio is anything but about the convenience.

Right, but anyone listening from a cell phone is not an audiophile looking for studio quality. The DAC and other factors make any wired headphones from your cellphone less than superior anyway.

Real headphones will always have cables and should be used with real audio equipment, not cell phones.

For smartphone music, wireless is superior.

Agreed on the headphones. Airpods, while super easy to use, really suck at audio. I LOL when people think they're the be all end all of wireless headphones. There's a ton of better sounding wireless headsets than Airpods. Airpods are the same free earphones that come with the phone but wireless.

The Apple DAC that comes in the lightning to headphone adapter sucks as well. The old built in ones were better.

wow, you can chose how to display your icons on your phones GUI. how exciting.

maybe we arent sheep. maybe we dont give a shit about UI customization. maybe we dont give a shit about having 50 different SD cards to store all the useless junk we probably shouldnt have stored on our phones in the first place. maybe we dont give a shit about a 3.5mm jack because the adapter apple provided us works just fine. it isnt that we dont know about all of your amazing "features", its that we really dont care.

its funny how android nerds always whine about apple users having a false sense of superiority when all they do is walk around calling apple users sheep.

A few months ago I picked up a new Essential Phone when Amazon had them for $250 to replace my iphone 5 that I had for over 5 years. Wanted to get a new X but just couldn't justify the $1k.

It's a nice phone but so much bigger, I still can't get used to it. I'm not a gadget guy so I don't really have an OS preference. Performance is good. Although I don't run that many apps on my phones. Will probably pick up an iPhone again soon and pass the EP to my pops.

HAHAHAHA your experience with Android is dated at best. The last 4 years of androids have all been better than Iphones IMHO. I had iphones up until the 5S, then switched to Android (samsung). Played with an iphone7, but wasnt feelintg it.

Use an iPhone XS. Butter smooth OS and actually better hardware than the top Android phones.

Verified and tested better screen than the Note 9, far better processor, better AI in the neural engine (5 trillion operations per second), more premium design, better facial recognition hardware, faster storage, and the list goes on. iOS used to be the reason to use iPhone, but Apple hardware is even better than flagship Android now. The Apple A series chips are just beasts and will make your phone usable for many years.

And no, I don’t care about stats like 8GB RAM vs 4 on the iPhone. iOS has proven it’s more efficient with RAM.

You guys are debating things that are important but the real dealbreaker in choosing one versus the other is how much you care about privacy.

If you do, iPhone is the only way to go.

If you don't (id est you set your Facebook to know where you are and to collect who you call or who you text, you use Gmail, et cetera), you have the option of using Android.

No clue what you’re talking about on battery life. You just made a statement. Great source.
You seriously must be joking. I'm not doing all the work for you. Go compare any high end Android's screen to the new iPhones. The iPhone is clearly behind. Who do you think makes the screens for iPhones! No clue on battery life issue either lol, clearly you are commenting on a subject you did zero reading on.
