Completely understand that - my soon to be 70yo father has a '19 ZR1 - he's quickly developed an addiction to COTA since his first track day in March. Pretty funny every time I talk to him he asks when are we going back. Been fun watching his progression though - from being the slowest on track in a 750hp monster with a tremendous amount of grip - now to terrorizing the novice group & pushing 170 at the end of the back straight. I'm not a corvette guy but that car is absolutely bonkers.

Definitely will - just got to figure out the logistics of that pesky 3600 mile round trip. I'm planning on winning the lottery so I can hire a driver to take the car around while I fly everywhere. Feels like a solid plan, now just waiting for it all to happen.

something to consider as you make your decision. This was my 2nd trip from Houston to WGI.

Sounds like an awesome trip! VIR is also on the list as well as Road Atlanta & Road America so far for the eastern swing. Definitely makes sense to try to work out a couple like you did & get the most return out of the mileage and time. Definitely an epic road trip you had there.

You mentioned the weather at home bringing you back early. Assume that was due to Harvey - hopefully you and you’re family (and your buddy & his) all came through it ok.

Hey guys, new to the forum and the chassis. I'm an instructor for NASA NE. Haven't had the car on track yet, WGI in October will be my first time out this year with it.

DTC60's with SRF should suffice for a brake set up? Stock rotors, street tires, stock suspension.

Do any of you run a less aggressive pad in the rear, or is the consensus to keep the compound the same across axles?

Anyone know a good source for some titanium shims for the front?

Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks

The 60s are a good pad, very consistent friction. I know a lot of people here like the PFC08 but the Hawks are quite inexpensive which really makes them appealing. I have been running the 60s and 70s on my Corvette for two years now. Hard to beat them for the price.

I would run 60/60 to start. If you find that the fronts are getting too hot and consumption is high, the 70 has a slightly higher MOT.

GiroDisc sells shims, last I checked.

I run PFC-11's with SRF, no complaints. Depending on your pace and tracks you run a BBK down the line may be preferable. Try stock with pads / fluid and see what you think.

Yeah I've been using 60's for the last 5yrs. Like them a lot, never tried the 70's. The 60's had plenty of bite especially since I always use street tires.

I tracked an Evo 8 for the last 9yrs. I ran 60's up front and HP+ in the rear. Evo's are very front biased so it was never an issue. Didn't know if I could get away with something similar in this thing...

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Montaver, I see you're in NY, who do you run with?

Is anyone using front strut tower reinforcements? Should I have them welded on? My concerns are mitigating stress as I get deeper and deeper into tracking with upgraded components. Any other structural weld improvements? I don't foresee going to a true coilover rear.

Currently running:
No aero -
19x 9, 19x10.5 (255, 295) PSS.
ST 60/40 bbk, pagid rs29
JRZ RS 2 way coilovers (500/800)
CG race camber plates
Black Powerflex RSM

Pending:
Auto Solutions SSK (being built now)
CF drive shaft (garaged waiting to install with SSK)
18x10.5 Square
Solid metal rear sub bushings
Monoballs

Are there any known chassis or structural problems for heavy track use?

So at some point the f8x hub upgrade is worth it?

@kpewpew ripped off his front sway bar mounts, but this mostly was due to him sneaking down too low at turn 6 at laguna seca. It's like hitting a speed bump while already in full compression at speed.

Studs start to become an issue in the race build levels with aero cars and slicks. See the later pages of dogbone's thread. He is looking at upgrading.
The future classic kit is looking great though.

Thanks man, yeah not sure I'll go too far down the aero rabbit hole, but who knows.

Tried a few different orgs but mainly NASA or BMWCCA, i'll be at Palmer this weekend with NASA. Waiting for NYC traffic to clear and i'll be on my way up there shortly, Grey E90 M3. Groups look light and lots of track time!

When I talked to Dave Zeckhausen about 70s vs 60s, he had me start with 60s and said to move up to the 70s if I'm seeing high consumption or symptoms of pad overheating. He was concerned the 70s could reduce modulation and cause me to get into the ABS too quickly on a street tire.

I later tried out the 70s and didn't have that issue, but I do have a LOT of tire.

God, I love those polished Brembo calipers.

Also, cool to see they use the same anti-rattle design that my OEM Brembo rotors have. :-)
