Did your engine burn much oil before the oil change? The longest I've gone is 5500 miles before an oil change with no indication of any burned as the oil level is always at the full mark. My current oil fill is around 0.2 L short of full but it hasn't moved either.

I haven't done my RB yet, still planning on late April.

Ximian Not at all, previously ran Ravenol and Castrol 10w60 for nearly 2 years and only topped up oil once! I have seen the level decrease a little but, and only once did it ask for oil.

Decided against the $90 (x2) tow straps from Turner and got an Amazon special. It can hold the weight of a 5 year old so it should be good to go.

My wife offered to put some design on there in vinyl but I'm not sure what. Any suggestions? Might end up with just my name on there to discourage people from stealing it.

This link might be helpful. Looks more likely to be a leak.

had a go at using a helmet cam for the first time. I put the adhesive mount on at home before getting in the car and i think it turned out ok. I feel like I don't lean as much as some of the ones I see out there haha.

since it looks like a VR view, I put a iRacing template on it

Hmmm ok. I will ask the shop to check for leaks when I bring it in on Thursday. Thanks for sharing

It's a cool view. I've seen people mount them to the mouth piece area of the helmet, try that next time.

I also got you a Christmas present. Enjoy!

Those might get pretty crispy hanging down that close to the exhaust.

I just got a rear wing from Amazon. $370 vs $1600 for the same design as an APR wing. And I used hotel points so it cost $0. I travel so much it barely put a dent in my points balance.

I've prepared a few excuses -
  • It enhances the flavor
  • Most of its time will be spent sticking straight out, from all the extremely high speed
  • The right side mufflers are fake from the factory so it's fine

When I actually plan on using it, I'll twist it to the right so the strap is further away from the exhaust.

Put a rear facing camera to see if it flexes?

It flexes if I put my weight on it so I would guess that it will flex a bit at high speeds.

Somebody I know does some sort of tie-down with their tow strap. Like a 3m taped on hook. Maybe one would work... I think it could tuck straight down under the body?

Another idea: can you just throw the strap into the hole? It may hold in there

Is there any easy rule of thumb like on CCW, driver inside and passenger outside pads will wear more? (weight shift towards passenger side)

See attached pics for my spares I'm stocking..
inside pads tend to get hotter. i've found laguna to really wear on the inside passenger front pad. its enough that if you run a set of pads in the same position all day, you can eyeball it and tell which pad was in that position. when i'm swapping in used pads at laguna, the meatiest goes into that spot.
i believe the reason for this is the downhill braking zone followed by the low speed left turn that basically blocks most of the airflow to that specific pad.

Thank you! I will arrange pads accordingly, thickest ones on insides, especially passenger side.

I have replacement Project Mu 999 pads on the way, however I'm not 100% sure if they will make it in time before I drive down on Saturday. Luckily, I have Project Mu HC+ spare used pads with ~50% thickness left as well as 2 other spare used sets. I think I'll make out o.k. if I don't get my new pads in time...!

I got it on FCP Euro so I want to get a few changes out of it, but this is concerning!
When I ran laguna (after rbs) I went thru about 1/2 quart. Keep in mind you're running the engine and max crankcase pressure at high Rpm all day so I think it's normal to have a higher rate of consumption on track. My consumption otherwise has been the same pre and post rbs; basically no consumption over 5000 mile per oil change. No leaks.

Always good to keep an eye on things but I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

Yes sir. From my earlier post... 3 sets of spare used F/R pads and I intend to bring them all, keep swapping pads if I need to! The 999 front pads on my car only have ~2-3mm left

From green to gold to silver pads, they are the PMU HC+, a less trackable pad, then a street pad.

kpewpew i'd toss anything with thickness that i less than the backing plate. depending on the pad material, it can chunk and come off in big flakes and you'll have nobody home when you go for the brakes. then you'll be metal on metal at the next turn. this happened to me at turn two at laguna... turn 11- brakes were fine, turn 2- very little brakes and i went way wide.
back in the pits when i stopped, there were chunks of pad falling into the barrel of the wheel.
when the pads get thin, they just have way less thermal capacity, and i believe this is how i cooked my srf- i took a set of pads down to about 2mm. they didn't chunk, but they put a ton of heat into the calipers. lesson learned.

Good call.. last time at Laguna I ground down to backing plates on lesser pads and got myself a tow out. Not fun. Ended up flushing brake fluids, changing pad compounds, and getting new rings for my BBK.

I took a bunch of photos of my best (spare) and thickest pads. They're PMU HC+ compound, in between the pads I killed at Laguna and the PMU 999 pads I currently run. Ran them at Thunderhill east on two days.

How do they look? I figure I'll keep pestering my pad provider to expedite shipping. Will definitely feel safer with brand new pads.

Used flash on most photos. Goes left to right for thinnest to thickest pads. Thickest measured at 5mm, thinnest measured at ~4mm. (excluding backing plate, I measured pad material only)

yea, that pad at the bottom of the bottom pic is questionable for running up front.

this is something i'm trying to build a habit of- take a look at the front pads before lunch and consider swapping them or rotating them.
