It’s does have a way of getting a hold of you, doesn’t it . Not to be over dramatic but my first time getting out on track was life changing.

Looks like Orlando? If you are ever back in the Austin area and it lines up with an event at cota might mention it here first. Typically at least one of us here will be out there and might could give you a ride along on the full track. Might also check in on the M2 board as their presence out there is growing - and also the F8x group.

I'd also be happy to give you a ride at COTA. I think I'll be out there for Chin's event at the end of August.

I just signed up for that one & the dang garages are all already full.

Going to be bringing the M2 again - hopefully this time it can handle the heat. June out there was rough on it.

Do you have an EZ-Up tent? It won't be as luxurious as the garage but it will keep the sun off you and the car.

What happened with the M2?

Yeah my trailer has an awning on it so should be covered. Garage just nice to have, especially with my old man there - definitely easier on him.

M2 just struggled with the temps the whole time. IAT was between 135 - 161 each lap so was pulling timing pretty hard. Had to short shift to keep the coolant levels from reaching the first limp mode point. This is with all the coolers upgraded too. Just had no power at all. Was lucky to reach 135 on the back straight. Still managed 2:34s like that so think there is a lot of potential in the car if we can get temps down. Installing water meth injection and swapping in an air to water inter cooler from a S55 (I have an OG M2 with the N55).

do88 - figured there was still a decent chance of it happening though. Mid 90’s with high humidity, sticky tires, and getting at it pretty good. Turbo just hates the heat. Needs a little more help to keep up.

Have the full set of do88 coolers in my track E92 M3. Been happy with them running fairly hard up to this point.

interesting. what were the ambient temps?
lots of people state the m4 has good track cooling, but i was able to put one into limp mode at one of those 1/2 day M day events and it was probably a 80-85* day.
i have no idea about the m2, but a guy i know hustled a m2 at one of our local tracks on a fairly warm day and didn't have any problems.

Yeah haven’t been real impressed with CSF from what I’ve seen either. Just sounds like with an OG M2 your going to eventually get there when pushed hard enough. Cota is pretty tough on temps too.

It was about 95 with fairly high humidity. I’m fairly new to M2’s myself - just added this one couple of months ago. My understanding is this can be a problem with the N55 if pushed hard enough. The S55 in the M2C doesn’t have as much of a problem it sounds like. Have everything we need to make the conversion. If it doesn’t work then we will swap the old stuff back. Hopefully the meth helps out quite a bit too. These cars have a ton of grip - at full power ought to be pretty damn quick.

Problem with the M4’s in the m track day can be they aren’t allowed to cool off much between laps. The M5 I drove this year was giving up by the second lap and we weren’t even pushing that hard.

Awesome man, welcome to Texas. I’m a little south of you here in San Antonio. Sounds like dparm is signed up the chin event aug 31 and sep 1 and I just signed up for it today. Definitely more than welcome to stop by and see what it is like - & also get tossed around in the passenger seat a bit.

Have you already registered? If not I think novice if full and probably ought to get on the waitlist pretty quick. And should be some good instructors there, pretty good group to run with.

I tow up in an enclosed trailer that is stocked fairly well so I have tools, jackstands, jacks, all that good stuff that anyone is welcome to borrow.

Ah damnit, I figured there would be more room. Only 16 novice spots it seems. Le sigh. I'll have to try Edge Addicts, or something else. I wanted to start at COTA but maybe one of the other 3 tracks in the Austin area will have some room

Run straight water if not already. That'll help immediately or delay the inevitable. Hopefully enough to get into a rhythm and put a good lap in.
Happy to be wrong, but getting sprint "race" performance out of them for 20minutes is wishful thinking or a waste of time. Stick with the S motors.

Still a chance if you get on the waitlist. My dad made it through the wait list in June out there. Which other three tracks are you referring to?

Yeah I hope your not right but think you might be. Hopefully the addition of the meth and A2W intercooler along with going to straight water like you said can get us through a full session. This car will never be more than an occasional hpde car so that is all I need out of it. Would be a shame if I can’t get there because the car hooks so well and really fun on the track despite not having ny power.
