My neighbors think I'm insane, many nights after work I'm in the garage staining or moving lumber or some nonsense.

When its 'done' (approved and signed off by the city), I'm going to box in those ugly little rafters and put some recessed lights in the 'false' beams.

I have also bought a BBQ and a side burner, I wanted to spend much less then I did, but when you handle the cheaper one, and really nice one there is no comparison. The burners on these things are bade from cast stainless that is almost 1/4" thick and guaranteed for life, I hate burners that rot out.

I'll keep my pellet cooker too, just not in the pavilion.

Ooh, almost forgot, I ordered a 50" tv, and I got a cool motorized mount that will pull the tv up behind the big horizontal beam and hide it under the eaves when it is not being used, should be pretty slick!
Are you planning on putting up a ceiling fan? It would help somewhat in the summer. But knowing the Bay area, only a month or so gets really hot.
Did you stamp the cement around the pool?

i don’t plan on putting up a ceiling fan, i may do a mist system, but our weather is pretty comfortable.

I don’t love stamped concrete, we chose a very light broom finish with a troweled boarder. I think it would get a little busy with the travertine coping, stone, and the stone, pizza oven etc that will be in the pavilion.

I know he was having a new house finished up. Hopefully he's just too busy with that and moving. Agree it would be good to know he's ok though.

A couple more updates, the roof is actually finished now (not shown), the oven has a lot more color then it looks like in this picture, the sun was in the wrong place. I should be able to get my final inspection this week so I can start putting the inside together.

The chandelier looks a bit small in this picture, I think it will look good once everything else is in there, if not we may have to get one that is a bit bigger, but I don't want it hanging down any more.

Good deal. Looks good thus far.
After I finished my backyard, my wife turned to me and said "it would be nice if you put in a swimming pool instead"

Happy New Year! Thanks P1et! And to those of you expressing concern or at least wondering about me, I truly appreciate it!

Far too much going on since late October: new house, new business, health concern, and more. Just needed to step back and "prioritize".
Our home is finished (after some delays) and we are moved in and still decorating and settling in. But truly blessed and more than anything, I am happy for my wife and kids.
I will be posting but not nearly as much.

Cheers! And I can't post up in here without a "drink update"....

My current project: I converted this bookshelf into a liquor rack at my bar:

I think I may see the source of the 'health concern'

We have had a pretty rough year health wise around our house too.

Woops... I am all out of it! I thought this was the "Drink" thread LOL!!! My bad fellas. But... I look forward to firing up the Weber real soon and posting up some tasty grilling. Also looking to add a dedicated smoker.

And the health concerns weren't mine, but family.

Funny, I looked for TXSTYLE 's new house building thread this morning and was going to give it a *bump* for an update...then got sidetracked (easily done with my short attention span). Glad all is good with him!

Looking forward to a new house upda...oh look...a butterfl

I had a productive/exciting weekend!

I built the stand for the oven, took most of saturday, and got the oven in place on sunday. I had to order another 4' of stove pipe and I still have to cut the hole in the roof, but now I can continue framing out the 'cabinets'

Made baby back ribs yesterday. They were wonderful.

They were on for about 3 hours at 250F-300F, then I took them off, put them in foil with brown sugar, honey and butter, flipped them over, and put them back on for 45 minutes at 250F.

I realize my food photography is rather lacking. I'll use my real camera next time.
