Is it Safe to Tow in Parking Mode?

Car has been dead in my garage for a couple weeks and I think I'm ready to throw in the towel and just have it towed, but now I'm not sure if it can be safely towed. Is towing the car while it's still in P mode safe (DCT)? The car moves when the e-brake is released, but is it still safe? I can't engage any gears with the battery being dead.

Thanks.

If it is in P it engaged the parking brake and the car won't move

If you say you can move it then I guess the battery being dead means it automatically releases it

You need to manually disable parking brake. It's easy, follow this thread

if a tow truck comes out, can't you also jumpstart the battery?

I tried charging it with a battery tender and tried jumping it with a friend's car but both were to no avail. Would a tow truck have something I don't know about?

I'm pretty sure your car has the issue with the battery cable connection to the fuse box behind the glove box. You should tow to a BMW dealership and have them address the battery cable technical service bulletin. They should fix it for free under that TSB.

Also before you tow, you need to lift up/remove the dct knob leather cover/boot and use a screwdriver or stick to move it into neutral.

It's possible a failing EDC module is causing excessive battery drain if that was never replaced on your car. That's what had happened to mine and I had to get it flatbedded to the dealer to repair (that was my thread that's linked above asking how to put DCT into neutral with a dead battery).

Or make sure the tow truck driver uses dollys on the rear tires.

Do not tow in Park. Read the owner's manual, it describes how to get it into neutral.

Pop open the DCT boot with a non marring flat tool
Grab a phillips screw driver
Locate plain looking cover, you can flip it over and it should expose a lever looking thing where you insert the screwdriver into the hole and lever it towards the rear, as if you're upshifting.

Now the car's in neutral and the computer will tell you
