Yes when the nuts popped there was some oil around them and the oil was coming out of the hole and he was a lil scared cuz unwanted things happen if you’re not careful with the oil 18 years down the road and still paying for that one time when oil spilled out. I don’t get what’s funny tho is there a joke I’m missing?

They're not just cosmetic tho. There was a post where a guy was missing those and had some oily substance around that spot and if you look inside I think it's the drivers side there's an open ended connection that the plenum drops onto and it's oily inside
They are cosmetic. They are plastic and if you put a socket on it they break off with about 1lb of TQ.

they are used to hold the two halves of the cover together while the glue is drying... once the glue hardens they perform no task....

Why would anyone glue them in? The damn engine heat will likely heat up that glue and it will just pop out again. Unless of course there is a glue that can take a lot of heat.

High temp epoxy is good to 450F - no worries in that location.
