Clicking sound when hard cornering
Ive noticed a slight clicking sound when hard right cornering. Can hear it in the wheels or something when the windows are down. Its not in the steering its coming from the outside of the car. Has anyone else experienced this?

Good question!!!! I have noticed this too, the clicking is perfectly spaced out so I am less inclined to think something is wrong. I turned off DSC and this noise still remains. I think it may be the brakes, but SUSCRIBED to find the real answer.

I have the same exact thing. I've brought it to the dealer and they've replaced the strut and that didn't fix it. I also got new rotors a few weeks ago for an unrelated issue and that didn't fix it either.
Mine started only on the right side, however the left side is starting to do it now too. You can't feel it in the steering, just hear it. And I can only hear it with windows down.

good to hear im not the only one. probably just "normal" noises
I never tried changing the EDC setting to see if it it still made the noise, it could be something calibrating, like the noise coming from the mirror on start up |

Mine is in for service on this (and other things) currently.
I remember reading that there is a TSB on this. It is the backing plate on the front brakes and only effects older e9x M3s. I believe they updated the material on the backing plates in 2010. |

I had exact same issue on my old 135. The clicking noise is from brake dust shield. All you need to do is to tighten the mounting screws and it will cure it. 10 minute fix, it will take half a day at the dealership, and thats if they believe you in a first place The noise is likely more obvious when turning.

It's at the dealer currently getting replacement backing plates on the front brakes.
I just told them it was a clicking noise when cornering on the front brakes and I believe there was a TSB about it. No questions asked and they ordered the backing plates referenced in the TSB. I get the car back Thursday. So, I'll let you know what the TSB number is then, if they will provide me with it. |

Same problem here but only on the right side. Sounds just like a rock in the tire tread, like on my sporty Yukon. Ran my hand along the tread and did not feel anything. The sound is not on every corner but is more pronounced when there is a building or wall to reflect the noise back.

Wow glad i am not the only one then. First i thought it was because of some chips in my wheels or tires but i doubt it. Have an appointment on sept 27th to replace my wheels to winter ones and look into this noise.

If it sounds like a bicycle chain going backwards - I had this about 5 times and went to the dealer 5 times for it when my car had <10K miles. It happens under highload cornering.
They replaced the rotors and pads three times. Turned out to be a batch of defective wheel bearings. They replaced everything again and I'm at 35K miles almost with no issues.

Some '08 cars had that exact issue due to bad brake dust shields, but that was fixed in early '09, so depends what year your cars are folks. 'Bad' shields are silver, and new ones black. And yes, there's a TSB on that. Just FYI.

Also consider the differential. There is a known issue with noisy diff fluid on the E60 M5 and I believe the E9x M3 as well. It makes a rubbing or grating sound at low speeds with tight turns, such as in a parking lot. I had this situation with my M5 and it drove me nuts--I thought it was my front tire rubbing against the inner fender liner, when in fact it was noise from the diff. A change to the upgraded diff fluid (also a tech service bulletin) at the dealer cured it.

I finally got this problem resolved after numerous visits to the dealer.
At first I got new rotors, then brake shields, then tie rod ends, then wheel bearings. Wheels bearings ended up fixing the issue! Funny thing is the shop foreman I talked to diagnosed it as bad wheel bearings from the very beginning but for some reason they didnt go that route right away. Hey I'm not complaining, I got a bunch of new parts including rotors hahah
