HELP! Spend my money

Hey guys and gals. I just bought a 2010 e92 m3 from a forum member yesterday. Literally wired money, shipped car through uship and its in my garage 10 hours later. CRAZY fast transaction. I've always wanted a v8 m3 having owned two e46 m3. Well the time has come. She's in the garage! SO my dilemma is this thing needs a catback exhaust. I have to hear that v8 growl. What is the consensus on catbacks? I had a Akra on my 911 turbo and loved it but I dont wanna spend Akra money on the m3. Please chime in as Im ready to pull the trigger. I would prefer lightly used so if anyone has a near mint system they wanna sell chime in.

Clean car! I looked at it on Sunday and was supposed to purchase it on Tuesday but another awesome opportunity came up Monday Night. PM me your email if you want the last couple of years of service records and carfax. I was going to point a Dinan exhaust on it if that helps at all.

Congrats on your purchase. Corsa, Dinan and MPE seem to be the favorites here. YouTube has hundreds of exhaust clips.

If I had to do it over again I would do the 4 pipe OEM mod since it's drone free.

Corsa. While you're at it get rid of the primary cat either HFC or test pipe, and get a stg 2 tune..

It will wake the car up significantly.

I had ACM modified rear and now the Corsa and the ACM mod sounds good, but the Corsa sounds amazing and has a way more refined and exotic sound. It has a really unique tone to it. It's pricey but worth it.

The only consensus on catbacks is everyone thinks they have the best system, but everyone wants to trade you their system because they don't really know if they like it.

Everyone has their own preferences for loudness, neighbor annoyingness, and drone. And will also depend if you go catless or not.

Theres lots of videos on youtube but honestly, I don't think that's a great way to tell. Anything in a video usually sounds "good" but until you're in the car droning at 80mph do you decide if you can live with that on a daily basis.

I ditched my Eisenmann Race and went back to stock, it was loud and bassy and sounded awesome when revved out but was annoying for me for a daily driver. If I can find an MPE that fits an E90 I might consider switching it out. I want no drone, minimal noise below 3-4K RPM that can blurt when I rev it out when my wife isn't in the car.

Have you considered OEM mod 2/4 pipe? Should cheaply get you a no/low drone exhaust that's louder than stock but not crazy.

OEM mod still seems to add volume across the range. M performance seems like it doesn't do much down low in the rev range compared to stock which some people don't like, but that aspect appeals to me.

Almost nothing to lose going the OEM mod route.........great way to test the waters before purchasing an expensive exhaust. I am very happy with it.

Listen to an MPE in person before you purchase one. I think its higher pitch slightly compared to what you used to have.

I'm glad to see you found a good replacement for the X5M( not a biased opinion at all). Everyone made some good points gotta find what suits your lifestyle.

I personally like loud and don't have much of a commute so drone doesn't bother me. I have a valvetronic system mainly because I don't always want to disturb the neighbors but I can be LOUD when I want to.

There's so many great options and configurations for this platform to choose from. I highly recommend meeting up with other members and listening to their set up. Good luck with the search and Welcome to the E9x platform!

Test pipes with an Eisenmann Race exhaust is a deadly setup.
Get a lot of compliments on it. It is loud but that depends on what your preference is.

My wife hates my quad resonated x pipe and Megan exhaust, hates driving my car and tells me not to ruin her car. She does not know that I put a JB4 onto her car.

Active Autowerks Signature has my vote ... and has been on my car After the first year. Find a used exhaust on the classifieds and if u don't like it, put it back up for sale. Akra sounds great, Eisenmann can be loud, M Performace is not that loud.......

AA signature sounds great, really growls at midrange and doesn't get absurdly loud at the top. However, both my daughter and wife say they hear me coming down the road so....

Best bang for your buck will be test pipes (remove primary cats). That'll wake the car up right away but you'll need to get a tune to code out the dash light.

I don't have this myself but have driven cars with it and it sounds amazing.

Also, don't rule out a carbon fiber plenum for some great induction noise. Pricey and minimal performance gain but an intoxicating sound.

Thanks everyone. The x5m was and is an amazing vehicle. I was blown away by its performance and sound with the AR exhaust I had on it. Something was telling me to sell it and buy a e92 though. I've always wanted one. My 2nd to last e46 m3 had an gruppe M intake and gruppe m exhaust 2005 comp 6 speed model. Man Im an idiot for selling it!!!!!!! (sold for a 2003 porsche turbo). That was deadly set up. Can someone let me know about this stock exhaust mod people are referring to. Oh and thanks for the warm welcome to the e92 platform!
