I was tempted by a Panamerica Sport Turismo Turbo or a current version E63 AMG E63 Turbo wagon. They weigh more and are a little slower than the M5. The M5 does have a pretty big trunk.

We also have a 21 Cayenne S, which is a great SUV and the 2.9L TT six makes it go pretty good (it’s getting a JB4 soon), though I would have preferred the V8 Turbo model. We shopped the X5 but not the X5M due to concerns about the ride. The X5 rear visibility is better and the cargo area is bigger. But it seemed more truck-like than the Cayenne.

Neither car was cheap, but for our primary drivers we wanted less than 3 years old for modernity and comfort. We bought our last two as 3 year old CPOs and kept them for 10 years — 08 E61 535xi and 08 E90 M3. We probably won’t keep these that long — I think we are at the point where we will cycle faster and just accept the depreciation or maybe lease through businesses.
