Abandoned Limerock

Hi forum members,

Behold is a 2013 Limerock M3 with a DCT. It has 9842 miles on the odometer according to carfax and a clean title. Originally sold by Pacific BMW, it’s on its 3rd owner. Current owner bought the car in 2018. There are no new logs into the carfax post that point.

I have seen this car for a few years now and have dug into it only recently. It resides at a community development I do work for every quarter. A friend of mine who lives in the neighborhood gave me more background on the car/owner. I had to work at the development for work a few weeks ago and decided to take a closer look and talk to some neighbors.

I was told, with corroborating stories from neighbors, the car has been sitting for atleast 4/5 years. It was once covered by a car cover but it has since disintegrated. The car is supposedly owner by the homeowners son. I did ask the father if his son would sell after some conversation and he have a firm no. I know my friend who lives in the neighborhood also attempted to buy the car but was also shut down by the father.

Obviously not going to speculate the situation but the car is in a very sad state. Carbon roof gel coat is completely gone. There is visible sun damage all over with clear coat failure and the panels all look to have different shades of orange. However, the interior is completely covered with towels, shirts over the seats, and the obvious sun visor.

I won’t push my luck with the owner but I do intend on trying to buy it again down when they want to sell. For now, it’ll stay rotting outside most likely.

What a waste of a highly coveted limited edition e92 M3

Why not offer it for sale if you’re not going to even drive it?

Could his son be in prison?

That, or he passed. I have no idea where the son is nor do I want to speculate but that is a possibility

Seeing the car like that… I want to throw up. I hope they sell to you, or anyone that’ll take care of it.

I never would condone stealing. But someone needs to save that poor car Jesus. Shame they won’t entertain selling it.

Who knows. Out of shear speculation maybe something has happened with his son and he can’t bring himself to let it go. Having said that, if that were the case I’d imagine he would take better care of his sons car because it wouldn’t be far fetched to say his son knows what he has and probably loved his m3.

In any event I’m subbed incase of any updates!

I don't understand if they don't drive the car or take care of it, why bother keep it? It is not like the car will go up in value when it is in this rough condition.

Damn hard to see a limerock in that condition. It almost looks like someone actually peeled off the remaining clear coat on the cf roof. Usually it delaminates in patches. Looks as if the car did get some love at some stage (aftermarket BBKs, looks lowered, etc). Even the second owner barely drove it in 3 years before selling

This is the equivalent of the old e30 M3's that sat in an owner's lot for 20 years for sentimental reasons... Some day it will come back into play and the new owner will get to restore it and have all the fun in doing so.

If you want to show some good will and gain points with the father.... Try this: Ask if you can buy a decent car cover for him and install it. Leave your business card with him so he can reach out if he ever has any questions, needs help, wants to sell it, etc. He'll remember you over anyone else that approaches him.

Definately do what Deansbimmer recommeds. I placed a cover on a coworkers Ducati 848 that sat permanently in our work parking lot. Never mentioned it to anyone, but being a bike lover, it broke my heart seeing it neglected.
