Studntloan Melbourne Build Journal

Hey Guys,

after a few years of being away from the E9x platform I've finally jumped back in.

In the past ive had 3 blown M3's

2008 E92 M3 with an ESS 535 kit and 4.10 gears
2011 E90 M3 MR with a ESS 595 Kit
2013 Frozen Grey with a 600 Kit

Ive missed my Melbourne E90 the most and when my buddy decided to sell it I jumped on it.

Its a 2008 6spd with slick top and fox red interior with carbon leather trim.

First mod was and has always been my favorite was a Dinan 4.10 my buddy was looking to get rid of.

here are some crappy pics, better ones and plenty of mods to follow!

The Grey coupe is the gfs fully built N/A beast with a lengthy list of mods

I will update this with mods as they are added and more pics

Current mods-

EXTERIOR-
- Flat black front grills
- Flat black side gills
- IND Gloss black Hood Vents
- M Performance Style Splitters

ENGINE-
-HFC on stock mid pipe
- Customer rear section

INTERIOR-
- ZHP Shift Knob

SUSPENSION / DRIVETRAIN-
- KW CLubsport 2 Way
- Dinan 4.10 Gears

Future Mods-

EXTERIOR-
OEM GTS front lip
LCI Trunk / Eventually RKP Trunk
RKP Diffuser
Gintani Sideskirts

ENGINE-
American racing Headers
M performance or Akrapovic rear section
Shrick Cams
Dinan throttle bodies
eventuri intake
port and polished head
underdrive pulleys
BE Bearings

INTERIOR-
Recaro sportster Gt
M performance steering wheel
Lci Navi setup or off brand ( Researching this still for a better replacement )
Lci Start button with Red painted IND start stop

SUSPENSION-
Options in consideration- Ohlins, KW Clubsport 2 ways, JRZ
Dinan sway bars and monorail kit
fall line upgrades
Future classic upgrades
Brembo or Stoptechs

As these mods are completed I will update above

I can't emphasize enough how great they are
It fixes that torque gap the car is missing and if you had not known they were there you wouldn't even know what it was.

It truly makes the car perfect and it's how it should have come!

No freaking way!! Glad you found one. I couldn't find a red one that was clean so settled for Silverstone which I have grown to love.

But your old car and mikeM5's are why I wanted a red sedan for years. I firmly believe Melbourne red is the best color on the E9x and I'm still salty BMW didn't give the F8x a red (excluding the Melbourne CS they now have)

Nice stable! If you could let me know the vin on the current car (and if you have the vin from the first MR car that would be awesome as well) I can get you added to the list!

Im not sure what HFC are in it, when I had it in the air it just looks like generic hfs welded in place of where the cats were, No Cel and the car isn't tuned yet

In the place of the primaries? Stock secondaries? Or test pipes in lieu of primaries and HFCs in place of secondaries? The latter would be like a Challenge Sport, but would throw a code, so guessing the former, but that’s very unusual.... but maybe effective! Any scraping?
