The blue one is just a parts car

Jk yeah blue for street and silver for track. It wasn’t supposed to be like this, but the silver car’s fate was decided when it flooded in 2017.

It was either IB, PY, or Estoril Blue for me. Never got a chance to buy your car, so this will do. Gonna have to manual swap it ASAP bc SMG sucks

The 450lb left/400lb right spring setup was much better than 600lb. Much less sawing the wheel to get it to turn in. I'm running 700lb rear springs, might run 750lb rears. I think my TCK doubles can handle it.

THIS.

SPL stuff is nice to look at, but the clamping collar using those tiny Ti fasteners is not well designed. Mine came loose twice before I finally got the bolts tight enough. When I asked SPL for a torque spec they said - "so tight you feel like the bolts are just about to break".

Once that was done they have been OK since. But as a matter of principle I think these are crap and won't buy anything else from them. I almost replaced them, but it was too much effort until I have another actual problem with them.

Nothing against SPL, great stuff I think
But, change the damn hardware lol

I have had challenges with the SPL hardware as well. It's a simple fix to pull the ti hardware and install stainless. The clamp style design is superior to the locking nut design others use IMO. The design and quality is excellent. It's just the stupid Ti hardware that's problematic. I also added loctite to the stainless hardware. All good now

The Michelin S8L is the Medium compound. That appears to be faster and warms up quicker. I've seen a new set run on an M4 race build and it was putting similar times in as my Pirelli DH personal best times. I've never run them, but I would say from what I've observed, the S8L is the closest to the Pirelli DH.

There is an S7L (soft compound), but I've never seen a set live anywhere. And I've never spoken to anyone that has run them.

The Pirelli DH seems to strike a nice balance between being fast and being able to put in a decent number of consecutive hot laps. And they warm up fairly quickly.

Anyway, if I was going to drive a Michelin slick for general use, it would be the S8L----unless you really want an endurance tire, which would be the S9L.
Got them today, compound is S8M, looks like that's what IMSA runs. Looking forward to testing them out next weekend at Gridlife.

Is there a strong case to be made that the best time to do solid subframe mounts is when you are swapping struts/springs for coilovers?

I can't think of a substantial savings, but I could be missing something.

There's very little overlap. The coils/springs just hang while the subframe is out. An alignment would be the biggest overlap.

Just a good cooler with nothing but blocks of ice in it and some of those gel freezer packs in the bottom. The chunks melt, but surprisingly slowly. This was before the super insulated coolers like the Yeti were out.

Maybe a 2 speed setting? You can wire a resistor inline for a lower setting and then a full speed setting.
I never looked into it TBH. I just would switch it on and off depending if I was hot or cold. Not elegant, but it worked.

Honestly, unless those coolers have absolute shit insulation, even a basic cooler can keep a bag of ice cold for two days.

Anybody here tried the F8x FLCA?
Keen to hear comments further about geometry than just static camber gain with those.

Those with trackspec motorsports hood louvers.. has anyone thought to cut open the topside of their intake airbox? That louver sits almost completely over the airbox and I would imagine this would evacuate air from the airbox way faster than the oem hood vent

Would need to be covered back up during the rain.

edit: cutting open wouldn't be necessary lol just removing the top lid. Obviously without the hood louvers this would be a horrible move

Speaking of Trackspec - weren't they at one time going to be making chassis mounted front splitters out of Tegris? Did anything come of this?

I'm sure there is a huge market if someone prefabbed some adjustable chassis mount brackets. Similar to what HARD motorsports did... but better haha
