I'm in Baton Rouge.

Any of y'all been out to NOLA Motorsports Park? Planning on heading out there for the day on Friday, depending on what the weather does.

Im in BR and im looking at getting an M3 soon.

What trim packages do you all feel like or must have's?

Im looking at either a 10' or 11' DCT, comp pgk and I dont really know what else I should look for. I def want Nav and comfort access, butt warmers would be nice too I guess. Its easy to find used M3's for a good deal but of course most are stripped. Im pretty sure I want it loaded with every package but I didnt know if some were just a waste.

Thanks

1OF20: Haven't been out to NOLA Motorsports Park yet, can't do Friday either. Will get there someday! And I'd love to see that Frozen Black in person some day...

LSUbimmer: First, Geaux Tigers! Have not looked at the used M3 market but really depends on what you want. If you want all the bells and whistles, could be harder to find as I get the feeling that most do buy more stripped down cars. While not the most expensive car out there, it is still pretty costly car when new. Just going to have to be patient... or compromise on some of the options.

Yeah finding one loaded for a decent deal is proving to be tough. Where can I look at the different trim packages online at?

Start with the BMW USA website, it will lay out all the potential options. Some of the packages have changed so be careful there. Don't know a good source offhand where the packages are laid out by model year.

In terms of iDrive etc, the M3 started coming with the combox in Sept 2010 (MY2011.5 by some folks terminology!). Having the combox does offer things like viewing album art on the iDrive screen and Bluetooth audio.

There were more subtle changes in March of '11 though I can't recall the details.

I don't even care about ZCP or all that. I honestly wish I just had the updated iDrive. Thought about spending the money to get it done but at that point, I might as well just trade it in and get a new car. :P

Oh and for the original purpose of this thread, I was hoping to try to get a meet together or just visit one that's already in place.

Yes, back to meets. Don't know of M3 specific meets in my area. The Bayou Chapter of BMWCCA is fairly active down here and there are regular gatherings but again, not M3 specific. I have meet a couple of fellow M3 drivers on my own...

I would be up for trying to meet one weekend at some central location. Maybe somewhere like Baton Rouge...

I should be heading down to NOLA next week if things hold up and depending on how much tread I have left on the tires. It's almost pretty much at the line so I don't want to push it that much further lest I be stuck somewhere I don't want to be.

What is the compbox and did it start in the 2010 or 2011 models?

As I noted, the combox started with Sept 2010 production which was model year 2011 in the US. If you are looking at a used car you'll likely want Sept 2010 or later production. There is a small metal plate inside the drivers door which shows the VIN and production date...
