Not sure how I feel about my car cavorting for 2 weeks with German port-wenches.

So if it misses tomorrow, then it's 2/10? Am I reading the website correct? There's not another ship until 2/10? Seems like a long time.... is there a possibility that a ship will leave sooner, but not registered on the website?

I've been looking around at the port on google maps: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sour...06834&t=h&z=18 That's just one of the car lots - if you zoom out and look around, you'll see tons more. The one I linked to is one I suspect of being a BMW area, but I can't tell for sure. |

The phone number now says "In Transit" for me. I've called my dealer to get the ship name but I have a feeling it was the Fedora. I hope it stays away from the icebergs in the Northern Atlantic....I guess I need to start looking for snow tires.
Another question, do you think it's smart to clay and seal the paint before applying a clear bra. I've read about rail dust being on the new cars. I'm not sure the dealer prep is much of a detail...

Mine says "Awaiting Transport" on the vehicle tracker on bmwusa.com, and has been at that state for about 4 days now. What's the 800 number you guys are referring to? It seems to be giving you more detailed updates than the site does.

Scheduled For Production
Approximately three days prior to your car going into production, OC will reach this stage. The 800 automated information number is much more accurate than Owner's Circle (by two days or so), so use it with your production number to figure out what's going on with your car. The number is 1-800-831-1117 ; say “Vehicle Production Status” and then read out your production number. If your car production is complete, it will say “Your vehicle production is complete.” This whole stage takes a week or less.

Thanks, James! I just called and the kind robotic lady told me that the car is at the port awaiting a vessel. I hope it gets onto Hoegh Chiba. Otherwise, it's sitting on that lot for 2 weeks...

Yup, looks like I missed the Hoegh Chiba The 800 number says I'm still waiting at the port. I talked to a human at the 800 number, she said the same thing. She said they have a checklist they have to go down at the port before the car can get a boat, which is kind of what I figured. Sucks that my car is going to be sitting on a lot there for two more weeks now. I hope some of you guys had better luck.

Me too, looks like a March/April delivery. At least if we catch the Medea it'll be easier to track since it's a W&W ship.

Mine's still at the port. Guess it'll get on the Medea in a couple of weeks.

I'm toying with the idea (wishful thinking probably), that the Hoegh Chiba decided to stick around for another day or two to eat some more of our cars. Who knows, maybe that's why jamesq's status flip-flopped - maybe you don't get the "In-transit" status until the boat has set sail, and his car is still safely on the H.C. - I don't know why they'd load it and then unload it.

My M3 has been "at the port waiting for a shipping vessel" for 3 days now. The wait is killing me. I might have to fly over there and put it on a boat myself. Once it is loaded onto a transport ship does the phone system give you the name of the vessel? If so how do you track the ships progress???

Vesseltracker shows the Hoegh Chiba still docked at the vehicle lots (as of two hours ago), and it's officially 1/30 in Germany, so maybe there's hope.
