not sure if this has any value to anybody but I have a key fob from my 2013 e92. i traded my car and the dealer where i bought the new one (not a BMW dealer) only gave me one key and wouldn't pay for a second; so i kept my extra!
not sure if you can re-program it for another vin, but if somebody knows it might have some value to one looking for a spare.

Even if it could the metal key that’s inside will only work on your old car

you are correct, ideally i need to find who buys my old car and offer him to buy it.

is the comfort access fob different? if your car had comfort access i would be interested.
