Pagid RS 19 remaining life - enough for two days?

Opinions?

Its a little bit over 6mm towards the outer rotor and about 5mm inwards the rotor.

Hoping to last for 2 days at VIR.

Bringing stock pads just in case.

Hans, are these the pads I gave you at VIR?

It will be close. Depends on how aggressive you'll be braking. Pads will wear out quicker the closer to the backing plate you get due to loss of thermal capacity. But, if you are running in the Intermediate group and can "manage" your brakes as they say, and monitor your pad usage after each session, you will probably be OK. Those Pagids wear pretty good. Definitely bring an extra set with you to get you home!

According to the Pagid rep Andreas 4mm is the wear limit and they will wear quicker near the end of their service life.

I agree with the others that it's a toss-up and will depend a lot on you. I think it's likely you'll make it through at least the first day though, in which case you can change your pads that evening. But if you'll have a spare set, then no worries and just keep an eye on the current set. If you notice brake fade kicking in early (wouldn't be surprising since the heat will be concentrated in less pad volume), then swap them.

On the other hand, if you're worried that you might end up losing track time by having to change pads at an inopportune moment and/or don't think you'll have enough energy for a pad swap on Saturday night (especially given that you're using OEM calipers rather than a quick swap BBK setup), then just change them in advance. You wouldn't be leaving a ton of money on the table there, and you could potentially be saving money by avoiding that lost track time.

Hans, I have some RS-19 fronts with plenty of pad left. I would rather you ran those instead of the ones on your car. Brakes are not something I would mess with.

The biggest problem with thin pads is you'll heat up your brake fluid and boil it quicker.

From my experience...the WORST problem on the E9X M3 is your dust boot on the caliper getting super hot and catching fire.
