Double check, but I believe it is the sensor on top of the water pump underneath the plenum neck.
Thanks for the heads up. His stuff implies that it might be covered under the Federal Emissions warranty (8 years, 80k miles) and have a TSB for a stronger harness.

*sigh* BMW.

I recently replaced it thinking mine was bad, but I may have misunderstood the code or something. It will trigger a check engine light, and I still have mine. Maybe it has to be reset or something. I didn't have any symptoms.
It wasn't difficult to replace and I didn't feel like trying to explain emissions warranties to a dealership.

This is my best-ish lap from a typical PIR track day today. There was a lot of awkwardly slow traffic, so not a lot of free open laps. I had a lot of fun with a 997 GT3RS that was being really well driven. I think he was about 1/2-a-second faster a lap, but I was out-braking him and keeping up (not in the below lap)...

bit of a disconnect if a GT3RS is being "well driven", there's no chance on this planet that you should be able to out brake him given nearly equal tires.

Looks like a lot of fun though.

Yeah, sorry, but a 997 GT3RS will absolutely destroy an M3 on the track.

BTW, if anyone wants cheap 6-piston Brembo calipers for a project, mine are for sale. $50 in parts to rebuild and maybe some new paint and you're good to go.

"absolutely destroy"? Based on what?

To be clear, I'm talking about the same driver on the same day in both cars.

Quite simply, the GT3 RS is lighter and more powerful. It is a purpose-built car and is pretty close to "no compromise". As good as the M3 is, it's still a big luxury sedan underneath. This is just my opinion, but I'm curious to hear your perspective.

Some quick Googling shows that a 997.1 GT3 RS can do the ring in 7:33. The E92 M3 GTS did 7:48 (pretty impressive, actually), and a regular E92 M3 did 8:05 -- more than 30 seconds slower. That's a pretty big deficit.

Well then, I'm really really glad I'm not driving a stock M3.

LOL okay, I thought you meant each car being stock.

What are the prices like on used 997 GT3/GT3 RS models? The interiors on those things is definitely low-rent (the 991 was a big step up), but I can probably deal with that for a track toy.

I got no dog in this hunt but did find this video of stock 991 GT3 which I believe has similar specs to 997 GT3 RS.

Here's GT4 CS - I'd love to have one of these

There's a wicked difference between a 997.1 GT3RS and a 991.1 GT3. For better of worse, shockingly different cars. The 991 is quicker, but considerably less analog.

Those videos are Eddie, owner of AR Automotive. AR does all the work on my car.

Eddie's able to get a 991 GT3 around PIR three seconds faster than my M3 in my own hands. That's a pretty solid ass whuppin.

For reference, Eddie could only get the ZL1 around PIR in a 1:24, 1 second faster than the 991 GT3 in that video.

Does anyone know the parameter location for oil pressure for the AIM Solo 2 on the Canbus? I can't see to locate or record it.

Eddie Nakato is also racing the 12 hour of Spa in October. I believe in a BMW M6.

Dude knows how to setup cars. I feel like I'm pushing my E46 M3 to the limit, and he's still 3 seconds quicker off my personal best.

I noticed the same thing.
Temp is there but not pressure.

You have to run a pressure sensor to a distribution block. It's not in the aim pre set sensors.

Did you touch the inside/apex curb at three? If so be careful. I would stay off of it.

Yeah. Without coilovers I can still kiss 3 and the car doesnt get bumped much towards the opposite side in the subsequent straight. If the car was much faster, it would be a bad idea. Thanks for the tip/warning though.

Yesterday was the first day in a year that I was able to drive my E46 and E92 M3 back to back on the track. After driving a fully prepped E46 for a year, man the E92 feels so goddamn heavy and slow
