I think I could have done this without pulling the top of the air box but it was easier with it out of the way for sure. 15 minutes. Hope that was it. 27BB 27CE 27C1 2722 27BA were my codes.

I had CEL and limp mode pop up on the track this weekend. On the Idrive screen it said "fuel pump malfunction". I pulled into the hot pits, restarted the car and everything went away. I did a cool down lap thinking perhaps it was temp related. I got back on it and in half a lap it triggered again. Pulled out and was done for the day.
Pulled my codes, did my research and found this tread. I purchased this part from ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/272130064094 It has the same model number, even tho its listed as an "X6 part" Getting it this weekend and will install. Keep you guys updated. If it works, its quite cheaper than the OEM price.

BTW, I let the car sit for two days and no fuel sprayed out, not even a leak, the line was at atmospheric pressure. I think you need to leave some time to let the system leak residual pressure down, or else get ready for some fuel spray
Either that or I have something stuck open somewhere, but there is no fuel smell etc. after the car sits so I doubt it

Just installed this last night. Tried to be lazy and not remove the airbox, but couldnt get my wrench in. Spent the 10 mins to get the airbox out.
I had started the car to move it the center of the garage. When I took off the loosen the sensor with the 24mm wrench, I had some fuel spray out. Not much but enough to fill my garage with gas smell. I guess there was still fuel in the lines and pressure. Finished up the install and took for a quick trip to the gas station. No issues with the sensor so far. Will keep everyone updated. EZ job. 20 mins top.

I don't see the torque spec for this sensor listed anywhere in the M3 manual, however it is listed for the N54 (same sensor) at "20 - 3 NM" which I read as 17 NM (13 ft lb) minimum not to exceed 20 NM (15 ft lb).

I was the one that installed the sensor on Flips car. I did not use any torque, just tight enough. It does have an O-Ring, so it should be good. Hope that it helps you guys.

Seeing that you had the 27CE code (EKP Control Module), did you replace the module and was "programming/coding" required? I'm think that it should just be a plug-n-play type item not requiring the stealership to "program" it. Correct?

I almost got same codes bro specially 27CE at startup with CEL , so when you changed just fuel sensor all codes gone or you had to go for fuel pump module?..

There were no symptoms, other than codes. It drove the same before as it did after. But I only cleared it and gave the code one chance to come back before I ordered the part.

Can someone pls advise if just the top of the air box needs to come off to access the sensor? (Same as replacing filter, for example.) Away from the car and planning this repair.
thanks

Taking off just the top doesn't give the clearance. The whole airbox needs to come out, but, if you have the right stubby ratcheting wrench, it is doable without removal of the airbox.

Thanks. No doubt stealer has just such a ratchet. they want 2.5 hrs labor for the swap, not that I'm surprised.

13537622231 (silver) is listed on RealOEM as being the proper part for the E9x M3. It is cheaper than 13537614317 (brass) which is listed for use on the N54 335i.
So I am now totallllly confused. I ordered the part recommended from RealOEM via FCP Euro (and I got o-ring 13537559991). It is the silver Bosch part. So - just to be 100% clear, the 13537622231 part is a direct replacement for the 13537614317 low pressure fuel sensor that mounts just behind the air-box on the S65 V8? Some posts discuss some "adapter" but the threads look the same (have not removed old sensor yet - just looking at photos). Thanks for any info on this. Cheers,

The adapter is P/N 16124800029
The threads do look the same, and I don’t know if it would work without the adapter, but the silver sensor is cone shaped at the bottom like an AN fitting and may protrude into the fuel line. The adapter is flat at the bottom and raises the sensor up about 1/2”. Here’s the link to RealOEM... https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=16_0596 Last edited by Pig Farmer; 08-20-2019 at 02:18 AM.. |

I changed mine with the brass one. Figured If the brass one was what was already there from the factory, brass replacement should go back in. Direct replacement, exactly the same.
