I owned my first 2011 E92 M3 was back in 2015 and only owned for 9 months I had to sell it coz have to relocated to Canada. And I missed the V8 engine sounds and high rev so much, so I got a chance to get my 2nd E92 M3 last Sep. And I searched for the F82 sport seats for a while and I got it from SoCal and brought them all the way back to Canada!
Finally installed the seats (and rear seats perfectly fit too!!) last week. The centre cloth texture perfectly match the carbon fibre pattern trim! Since the F82 rear seats is not attached to the front centre console, now waiting for the E90 centre console cover arrive. Also installed a new headunit with Apple CarPlay, rear view camera, new Pilot Super Sports tires, and a new carbon fibre front lip. Super happy with the interior with new M3 floor mats!!! More photos to come and sharing with you guys [IMG][/IMG] Last edited by lawgc8; 05-05-2022 at 08:32 PM.. Reason: Add photos |

Nicely done! Super jealous of the carbon structure cloth.
I'm running F80 front seats in my E90. They bolted right up but getting the wiring re-pinning, seat harness, and seat computers took a little bit of trial and error. Right now everything works 100% except no heat or side bolsters on pass side (heat is likely due to my car not originally having heated seats). No biggie!

I've sat in F82 seats. Thigh support wise, they are similar to E9x seats. They don't have the extendable front support so feel a bit shorter than E9x seats.
Side support wise, they are a fair bit deeper than E9x seats and provide better hold of your upper body compared to E9x. They do lack the adjustable side bolsters so you can't open them up for comfort. If you set the E9x side bolsters to max tight, they feel tighter around my ribs/waist than F8x seats, but it's not as deep as F8x seats. Around your back, they feel more square-sided, compared to the E9x seats which feel more curved and wraps around your back better. TL;DR - E9x seats are more comfortable, F8x seats hold the upper body better. Looks wise F8x the winner by far. Another point to consider is that E9x seats will accept a Schroth Quick Fit harness, F8x seats will not. |

IMO (I'm 6'1 / 180 lbs) I could never get comfortable in the E9x seats, on 2+ hour trips I would always get out with a sore back no matter how I adjusted the angle or lumbar. I feel much better in the F8x seats. They feel much more similar to the seats in my X3m (which are like the non-bucket seats in the G8x). Quote:
Wiring-wise, you need to de-pin the main harness plug on the e9x seats as well as the airbag plug and swap them over to the f8x seats. There are a few DIYs out there that give some insight into the wiring, but I have found that a lot of that depends on which options your E9x/F8x seats had. On the drivers side, I'm using the original F8x seat harness with an e90 LCI seat module (the white one). My E9x had no heat, but heat works 100% on the drivers side, along with lumbar/side bolsters. On the pass side, I couldn't get the F8x seat harness to work - it would time out after 10 seconds of not adjusting the seat because of the lack of a CAN hi/low pin on my chassis harness side. So, I bought an F30 seat harness on ebay and got that to work with an F30 seat switch and E90 seat module. Just seat heat and side bolsters don't work (I need to find another stitch with side bolsters and see). You will also have to code the passenger side occupancy sensor out.

And the F82 seats seems lighter than the original E92 M3 seats. |

God I love this and would love to some day do it with my E93. Hoping F83 would transfer over just the same, they have a little “extra” going on being a convertible and all.
Such nice work.

Wondering if I could bolt the F8X seats to my manual e90 seat base.

Hey lawgc8, fellow Canadian here!
I have so many questions about this conversion, could you accept my friend request or you can text me 819-230-7281. I know you had a shop do it, but just wanted a few pointers concerning the rear seats. |

Can check with my mechanics here. He said he also the first time trying to fit the rear seats, so when I asked him he considered this as an experiment lol.
