Question Brembo 4 pot big brake kit (360mm) - Front [Freaky Parts]

Looks like an interesting product placement; between OE & high end BBK prices.

Anyone have intel or experience with this offering, seller?
" This kit has been put together as a cost effective performance brake kit for the BMW E90, E91, E92 and E93 M3. The kit has been thoroughly tested by many owners in many different applications from normal road to track use..

This kit comprises of:

1 pair of brand new red 4 pot Brembo Calipers
1 set of pads
1 pair of custom fabricated brackets with bolts and fixings
1 pair of custom HEL braided hoses
1 set of pad pins and spring clips

The kit is designed to fit directly onto the original 360x30mm BMW discs without modification. Spacers may be required to clear your wheels, these are also available. You can download the template to check wheel clearance here.

Please note this brake kit is made to order, so may have a leadtime of approximately 7-10 working days. "

I've no experience with this kit nor the seller, but dang.. that's a helluva' decent price point IMO. ~$1000 with pads.

Fully agree, price point is very attractive.
Also a rear kit possibility...
From 'Freaky Parts' FAQ:
Q: Do you do a rear kit for the E92 M3 or can you make a rear kit with the same Brembo Calipers used as the fronts. Looking for a front and rear package. Thank you
A: We will be looking to develop this kit sometime in the new year unless we receive an order for it. If you’re interested please email sales@freakyparts.co.uk

They also have an AP kit that's affordable ($1,600).

It's technically for an E46 M3 but they include adapters for E9x... It's pretty old but there's still pads available for it - someone should guinea pig it.

several people are running the FP brembo 4pot kit. its been around for a while. I believe a few people jumped on the AP kit as well, but i haven't seen any reviews on them.

maybe folks with chime in that have this kit, again, its not a new offering to the market.

These are very tempting especially for the price point. I hope they make a matching rear kit in the near future

I have been running the front kit for 3.5 years now, prior owner installed before I bought the car. No real complaints for street driving and some light canyon work, I swapped the pads to Akebono Ceramics and never have to clean my wheels. I doubt there’s any performance upgrade over OEM but at the price point that shouldn’t be expected, they’re for curb appeal and they fit the bill nicely for that.

I tried to get them to make a rear kit like 3 years ago, emailing them that I was ready to be the Guinea pig, etc. no dice. Ended up just painting the stock rears red to match the fronts.

Curious:
Any pics?
Any driving experience w/OE fronts as a comparison?
Seems the FP set should be equal or slight improvement...thoughts?

I may email to inquire if rears are a possibility. No extra charge to ask, right?

Anyone else have interest in a full set if Freaky Parts offers? With maybe ~5 serious buyers they'll entertain a GB...

Interesting...poking around on-line, never seen these previously, especially as a kit offered.
Any known sellers in US?

For all the hassle and costs to source, convert, upgrade to F80 brakes, seems like a reasonable alternative for non-track guys...jus sayin

Good question...

Better yet, let's compile relevant questions for the FP brake kit(s); front & rear.
I'll facilitate forwarding to FP, then provide/post feedback.

Let's keep in mind product 'scope' & expectations [as I understand it]:
  • Equal to, slight improvement to OE Performance
  • Not a track solution
  • Aesthetic update
  • Pricing, availability for F&R combo kit
  • ?

So, have at it...
Questions/Request List
  1. Rotor/Pad sweep
  2. OE ABS & brake wear sensors/lines - Caliper compatibility; fitment/provisions to mount
  3. Warranty - Duration; who supports? [i.e. Brembo or FP]
  4. Brembo - Caliper model number; specs
  5. Dust shield - OE fitment w/calipers
  6. e92 M3 pic examples
  7. ...what else Gents?

Subject: Re: BMW E9x M3 Brembo 4 pot big brake kit

Hi.

We don’t have a matching rear kit as we don’t have a source for new calipers. We can supply adaptors for the Alfa Romeo rear 4 pots.
Shipping on the kit can be added here:

Thanks

Damn, a show stopper for me...no desire for mis-matched brake sets

the alfa rears are also brembo. that being said i did not like the alfa rear pad sweep so i opted for the alfa 6pot front only. probably not gonna get around to even installing the fronts so selling the kit now if anyone is interested.

i woulda rather paid the little extra for a 6pot vs a 4pot

Do the four caliper pistons require a higher brake fluid volume to displace them compared to the single piston OEM caliper? In other words will the master cylinder and brake pedal require a longer travel to operate compared to OEM, or are their kit calipers 'matched' to the E9X M3 master cylinder?
