Progression as in natural increase in standards of living. For example, a movement/direction towards greater living standards, as such is our goal in third world African countries. As for the OP's thread and debate, I would never buy my child a 70k M3 I agree with you. If he/she works has a steady job/head on shoulders/career plan/education and wants to buy his/her own car more power to them. However, I would advise them against it because at a young age the 70k can go towards more uses, such as investments whether they be financially or entrepreneurial interests. From personal experiences, working for the finer things in life offers much greater satisfaction, but I do not frown/hate on those that were more fortunate than I and were blessed with giving parents/grandparents.

I've been waiting for someone to finally realize the glory of the Tacoma. There's sports car performance (M3)...and then pick up truck performance. Let me tell you, there is nothing more satisfying then drifting a Tacoma in the pouring rain. It's a blast, knowing that even if you hit a bump, curb, or any small parked vehicle that you're car is more than fine. This thing is sweet for some reason

However, there is point at which that generosity actually becomes detrimental and not beneficial. This is the line that one should try not to cross. Look at the lives of many child celebreties. They get too much with too little discipline and it really screws up their lives. Are they really fortunate? I am more critical of the parents that give excessively to their children than I am of the children on the receiving end. The kids don't know any better. I mean, seriously.....if offered the choice, do you know any car-loving youth that would actually say, "No thanks, Dad, I'll take the Civic. The M3 is just too much car for me at this young age".

it all comes down to what your child likes. if cars has been a value in your family and your child understands the importance of the m and how to drive it why not let them enjoy it and be able to drive a fantastic car.

There is no way in hell I would give my child an M3 as a first car.
That's asking for trouble IMO. I think a 335 will more than suffice, even a 328 is perfect for a new driver.

My dad bought me a used 2009 M3 as my first car.(16 yrs old) ITs for good reasoning though, I've been working with him and the family businesses since I was 12 and it wasn't just easy work it was some labor like lifting. I also made him a promise that I'll try to do superior in life and become successful and wealthy like he is.
I dont brag or anything about it either. I'm really humble and thank God for how blessed I am. As for driving skills, I really respect the cars power and I dont abuse it. I have never floored the car. I havent even hit red/yellow on it yet. Gonna get my driving skills down before I even attempt that. |
