My exhaust setup..
I just bought a very slightly used OEM X pipe that I plan on modding by cutting out the OEM primary cats and going with the Turner Test Pipes. To prevent the emissions light going off I want to do the Akropovic Delete R or software. To be honest I am a little resident about the software. I did the Turner shark injector on my 04 M3 to delete the rear 02s on that car and had no issues.
I'm going to run the OEM rear section for now until I decide what mufflers I want to run. I lean normally toward Borla..had them on my 04 M3, my 997S and next inline will be my E92 M3 ZCP. I heard Drews car and I thought it sounded great with the Gintani setup. Tell me what you guys think...doesn't mean I'm going to change my mind but still like to hear what others feel. Please keep it constructive, as I know opinions are like arse holes..everyones got one...

Hey Dave, SteveK here from 6 speed.
From the exhaust setups you have heard on the e9x m3's, what do you think your tolerance to drone would be? I've heard a full gintani race to a handful aftermarket muffler only setups. Almost all of them sound badass but a lot of them drone because of the piping running through the belly of the car. I know you ran a pretty loud setup before with the awe cats + x51 + borla so it seems to me you want a setup where you will be heard but the great thing about our 997's was that there was little to no drone. Personally, I'm thinking of running the akra evo no R or the Gintani 2 x 2 pipe with the akra rear. Let me know what route you end up going with!

I think the Delete-R is super ghetto. here's why: It just sends a CEL reset every few minutes. If you get a CEL for anything, you will never see it, and you will never pass OBD-II readiness tests. The latter doesn't really matter for anyone who doesn't need to smog their car, but it can be a pain for state inspections, depending on where you live. I think it's a bit more booty that if a CEL comes on, it'll just get reset...

That wasn't my understanding, since you can't send a signal to reset a specific fault indicator.

Thanks for the heads up I will get to the bottom of this. If this is the case than I would probably keep the primaries in place and just go with a new Xpip after the primaries. Dave

I am almost 100% sure Turner is wrong. OBD-2 doesn't allow you to stop certain codes, you can either turn off the light (by deleting all the active codes) or you can completely clear all the codes... but not individual codes. Both will cause the readiness checks to fail.
Like I said, in CA, it doesn't matter. You won't need to get your car smog inspected until 2017. |

I'm not worried about the readiness codes as I wouldn't smog the car even in 2017 with the modded xpipe, slap the un-modified OEM pipe back on and be done with it. Thanks for the advice. Dave
