Towing with the m3

Anyone towing with their m3? If so, what type of hitch do you have, what'd it cost and where did you get it? Have any pics to share of you towing?

This thread isn't about why you shouldn't be towing with the m3 so tow nazis please keep your comments to yourselves.

A tire trailer to go the track would work though.

most people in the US have been brain-washed by domestic automakers that you NEED a 1-ton truck to tow a jet-ski or your daughter's pedal bike... back home in France, people tow all kind of sh** with regular cars... we used to tow a 1-ton (2,200 lbs total weight) trailer full of rocks with a 55hp, 3-speed auto diesel VW Rabbit... sure you gotta go around the big hills, but it can be done... i heard of a place in Ontario that does custom (balanced?) hitches... you might wanna research something similar more local...

For the cannabis farm, most likely.

Seriously, there is no way to install a hitch with the stock muffler. I figure it would be easy to fab a hitch if you had a Dinan exhaust. This is my plan ...eventually.

I have one of those trailers. Mines powered, though. Don't need a tow vehicle. I use it for hauling 1.2 GW electric power transformers.

Seems like you'd need to modify the exhaust or buy an aftermarket one with two canisters to make room for the hitch.

You don't need a tire trailer, I get 4 10x18 with 285/30 on the in the car with my luggage and room for the passenger. I stand 3 upright on the folded down rear seats with one flat in the trunk and a come along strap to the rear cargo net hooks. I even have room for a cooler, my weekend luggage, and a passenger. I love this car

Oh I agree - what if you want to bring 2 sets of track wheels though? I actually put all 4 wheels in the back seat (Sedan) and still have all kinds of room for a jack, tools and clothes etc. Do that in a GT3

I put a hitch on my Elise but it took some custom fab work. Put my track tires on it. Got the funniest looks too.

Yes I do the same but for a 3 day track weekend 4 tires are usually not enough. If I could figure out a hitch I would have a tire trailer to make my life easier.

No Doubt! I got my enclosed car hauler now and I even had the optional tire rack installed on the wall. All I need is the GT3

4-5 years and I should be able to buy my GT3!

Gonna have to get a car hauler now that you got the 6.2 to pull it with

Have to attach the hitch outside the mufflers using a crossbar.
