Sunroof+Helmet=?

How’s the helmet clearance with a sunroof? CF roof is my preference but have seen a couple of cars that fit the wish list except for the sunroof. Not tall (5’10”) but do prefer to sit pretty upright and somewhat close so not sure if it could be an problem. Any of you average size fellows out there have any issues? Thanks!

Awesome - that certainly appears to be the optimal solution but I’m probably a little too lazy to drag the phonebooks around. The main takeaway from that is that I clearly must get a corded phone for my passengers

Appreciate it - had the impression there was less headroom with sunroof for some reason.

Same here, 6-2 and no issues. I do slide back to get out of the car. Also the seat is all the way down.

>> How's the helmet clearance with a sunroof?

The total hight of a driver is not the important part, but the torso length.

I am 5'10" but long torso so I can't push the seat back. so with CF roof and OEM seat i hit the CF roof with my helmet on the bumps.

Now I have Recaro on BK bracket.
I take the Recaro cushion out and sit on a towel.

Perfectly not hitting the roof anymore.

I would assume with a sunroof it would be worse.

Garage List
2011 BMW M3  [0.00]
I push the limit in my e90 with sunroof. I'm 6.3. I have to slip down in the seat a tad to be able to freely turn my head left and right. I sit close to the wheel and as upright as I can.

I just bought a zamp helmet but haven't been able to try it yet.

Make sure your driving position is correct as well -- most people sit way too far back.

You'll be fine at 5'10" with a helmet and sunroof.

5'10" with sun roof / stock seat and I fit fine. It is close and my helmet touches the head liner over large bumps. Not a big deal.

Exact same height and problem here. It definitely feels like the sunroof surround is taking up valuable space. I took the top ducts off of my Bell for a better fit in the car.

Move the seat base forward, recline the seat a little, and think short thoughts.

For some of us, you can't move the seat far enough back. 6'6" with 7' reach.

Yeah the issue is going lock to lock cross over before shuffle. My elbows want to slam my legs if i'm not back enough. Trust me, I've got enough steering feel.
