Question Anyone have experience with Quick Jack?

I am considering getting a Quick Jack for my M3 and want to know how well it works with a E92 M3. I have seen a picture of an M3 on one so I can assume it will fit on a Quick Jack, probably the 5000 model. The jack seems to use rubber blocks to move around to fit various lift points for different cars. If I am correct, how do these work with the BMW rectangular jack points? Are adapters needed between the rubber blocks and the jack points? Or do you give up on the jack points and just mash them?

If anyone has one what is your opinion on its usefulness? I am not in the market of a full size lift but something like this seems like it might get used for tire changes, oil changes, brakes and polishing.

I have one of the newer 5000 models and I love it. I just put the rubber blocks under the jack points. The car is very stable when lifted. It locks at two points - the lower halfway point is perfect for doing tires/brakes, and full height gives plenty of clearance on the car for working underneath. It's a few inches higher than any floor jack or stands I've come across and just about perfect for lying on a creeper. I just changed the oil and did the transmission and differential service and it was really nice to not have to worry about jacks and stands. I also use it on my wifes Accord which has the metal ridge jack points and I just use the rubber blocks with it too. I'll lift the car just to wax the bottom of the doors and under the bumpers now because it's so easy. If you have any questions or want some pictures let me know.

What he said^^^

I've got the same unit and it works perfect using the rubber blocks under the jack points with all my cars including my E39 540. Best investment in the garage IMO.

I really want one of these, but I'm still leery of how safe it is. I don't recall there being any failures... I'm just hesitant for some reason.

It's well built and very stable. There is a metal locking bar plus the pressure in the hydraulic cylinder on each side. Its way more stable and safer than jack stands, especially when jacking one corner at a time. You can always use additional safety stands or put ramps under the wheels if you are paranoid. Check out this video to see how overbuilt it is.

Also, they low enough for my competition package E92 to drive over so you can just leave them in the parking spot if you don't want to move or store them.

I looked on the quick jack page but didn't see it quickly (see what I did there?): What is the overall length and width of the 5000 model?

Since I'm losing my twin post lift when I sell the vegas house (someone buy the lift, it comes with an attached house!). I might need to buy one of these for the new, 1/2 the size town house garage. just need to see the space requirements. I would need to drive over it, not have it stored someplace and then have to position it after the car is parked.

Here is a link below with the dimensions for you. The measurement you need to watch for is the LIFTING POINT SPREAD - MAX. It will give you the max distance for your car's jacking points. The MAX for the 5000SLX and the 7000 is 60". It is plenty for my M3 and 911, however, it falls a little short for my E39 540. I've improvised by putting a wooden block that reaches the rear jacking points of the 540 and it works very well.

The unit is rock solid and you've got to go way out of your way to barely shake it.

From what I have gathered they can be stood up against a wall out of the way or slid together and stored under the car. I believe the weight is like 76 pounds each, heavy but manageable. Little wheels help move it like a suitcase; heavy suitcase.

Maybe someone who has one can confirm if this is right or wrong.

Also do the BMW jack points get broken down like using a floor jack without the adapter? I assume the rubber blocks don't go into the pockets. I have seen some replacement jack points that are flat without the rectangle pocket. I kind of want to keep my BMW spare tire jack and that seems to need the pockets.

No issues on the car's jack points. The rubber blocks are very heavy and very well made, no issues at all. The jack points rest on the top of the rubber blocks and apply an even distributed force on all 4 jack points at the same time, same exactly as a normal lift's arms would fit on the jack points.

I keep mine on the floor and park the car on the top of them. You can also stand them out of the way but like the previous poster noted are heavy. Keep in mind that you cannot actually drive on the top of them.

If you are going to purchase a set, call them directly and ask them for a discount. That's what I did and paid $1,100 for the 5000 unit with free shipping to NC.

Lifting point spread is what I didn't connect with. Thanks! Makes sense now. I'll need to check since I have an F15 X5 too!

I have room to drive over the lift, no room against any wall to stand it up. 24 x 19 garage w/my Lista cabinets, a freezer, and the trash/recycle bins along one wall. No room for anything along the other wall really.

I got one 6 months ago and love it. Front cat removal, new axle back, and got the supplies for an oil change and brake fluid flush. I track the car and the lift will be handy and safer than a floor jack for getting the car prepped (wheels and pads). Oh, more mods likely to come now ?

I store the lift leaning it against the wall - works well.

For my own piece of mine I built some wheel stands out of wood if I'm going under. Unclear it's needed as the car feel really solid up there. I can't really test the lift failing and the car landing on these stands, but I figure it's better than nothing.

You may want to consider their SUV & Light Truck Adapter as well for your X5 (link below). I don't have any experience with this accessory but it could be very handy for giving you more clearance for the X5.

Yes, $1400 or $1375 (not sure) is the normal retail price for the 5000. They do occasionally put it on sale with free shipping during holidays.

You can buy a real lift for $1400. But it won't be portable or fit under 8 foot ceilings or be easily stored.

Another option is a scissor lift. It will store under the car, a nice benefit. Portable, works with low ceilings, 110v and will get the car 3' off the ground. Perfect for wheel swaps, detailing or brake/suspension work.

I have a model similar to the one pictured below.

For the pockets you can purchase adapters: http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-JACK-PAD...ghFS5tiil9TPEA

I've watched several vids and product demos. What type of work can and can't be done to a car with this lift given the height it raises the car above the ground?

Wheel swaps, brakes, detailing, oil change, differential fluid, transmission fluid should be easy enough. Also seems like there is room for exhaust swaps. What about typical bmw suspension components? Any routine or basic maintenance that can't be done with this lift?
