"Phone connected" reminder

I keep forgetting my phone inside armrest when it's connected all the time. Very frustrating when in a hurry, and need to get back, or when can not get back to the car for some time.
What do you do to remind yourself that phone is connected when leaving the car? I'm close to placing a sticker on the driver door window with "Check your phone" message =)
Would be nice to get a message on the iDrive screen though.

Used to happen to me. Now I put the key inside the armrest rest with the phone. As I cannot lock the car with the key inside, it reminds me to pick both up.

Not required on short trips, on longer trips I charge it in the Inn or B&B works well for me. Naturally once you are retired (like I am) phone calls are far less and that is the way it should be

I've occasionally done this as well, and this is a good suggestion. Thanks.
